Wolverhampton Wanderers are apparently the best promoted team to ever come up from the Championship, although they didn’t land a record points total last season and most of the squad have no experience of playing in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo did very well at Molineux last season as agent Jorge Mendes facilitated the signings of players like Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota, while there have been more Portuguese recruits this summer in the form of Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho.

The latter pair can be filed more under “experienced” than “promising”, with Nuno trying to get numbers in ahead of the new campaign and Wolves have been handed a tricky opener against an Everton side who have gone big on recruitment themselves.

Last season was a bit of an aberration for the Toffees who started sluggishly under Ronald Koeman and had to make a call to Sam “Mr Wolf” Allardyce who promptly fixed the Merseyside club and delivered a top-half finish.

Now Marco Silva has the task of creating an actual football team and playing style which will appease the fans, with Richarlison the big money arrival from Watford and the Brazilian could blossom into something special.

Gylfi Sigurdsson should also start to shine after a stop-start season following a big money move from Swansea, with Lucas Digne a star turn at left-back who has France senior caps and will hope that this move will kickstart his international career.

Everton are simply too big at 23/10 to beat a new team in the Premier League, with Jordan Pickford back between the sticks after his World Cup heroics and we should hopefully see why the Toffees spent so much on Michael Keane in central defence.
