Millwall v Reading betting preview – Royals will silence Lions

Reading will send Millwall further into the mire on Tuesday

Millwall are three points from safety in the Championship following a winless home run stretching back to late October and they look set to sink deeper into trouble tomorrow evening.

The Lions are having a dreadful season so far. They started their campaign in decent fashion, winning three and drawing one of their opening five Championship matches. Things have since turned sour however and the south-east London side have won just once since the start of September.

As such, they sit in the relegation zone on 23 points and will be desperate for the win which would go some way towards steering them to safety.

Nevertheless they will face a Reading side who have turned their season around somewhat since their 6-1 drubbing at Birmingham City early last month. Indeed, the Royals have won exactly half of their four matches since the New Year, drawing at home to Middlesbrough and losing 2-1 at Fulham due to a dramatic goal six minutes into injury time.

Bearing in mind that Reading won just four times in their final fifteen ten matches of 2014, their turnaround has been impressive and we expect that relatively impressive form to continue in this match, Bet365 offering a tempting 7/5 for an away win.

The Lions have been completely toothless this term so far and have the worst goal difference in the Championship, apart from the hapless Blackpool. They have conceded in all but two of their last fourteen outings in all competitions and as such, we expect them to concede against a Reading side who will be in high spirits following their 2-1 away win against Cardiff City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Striker Simon Cox has been Reading’s main hitman, the Republic of Ireland international managing to find the back of the net eight times so far this season. He scored the winning goal against Norwich City late last month and has been on top form throughout the season. We’re backing him to get his name onto the goalsheet at 21/10 with BetVictor.

Neither side have been banging in the goals this season and we feel that this match will be settled by a single goal. As such, we’ll be backing a 1-0 win for the visitors on this occasion.
