Steelers vs Ravens Odds

You won’t find many NFL fans leaving out the Steelers-Ravens rivalry as one of the league’s best.

Steelers-Ravens is one of the few rivalries mentioned right at the top of all-timers in professional sports, let alone the NFL. Even with player turnover in Baltimore, this matchup has been difficult to predict.

Six of the 10 seasons from 2009-18 over the last decade resulted in 1-1 ties. The two teams split their playoff meetings over the past decade as well. The games typically won’t feature more than a 3 or 3.5-point spread. Keeping an eye on trends, injuries and momentum is key to successful betting when these two teams meet.

Ravens vs Steelers 1

Steelers-Ravens History

The games between the Ravens and Steelers are notoriously physical and angry. The two organizations hate each other, and it’s evident every time they take the field. Despite the Ravens only being around for about two decades, they’ve managed to agitate the Steelers more than any other team.

The first nine years saw a good balance of talent on both sides. From 2002-2007, inside the first decade of this rivalry, the two teams split going 6-6. It’s been neck-and-neck.

The next 10 years saw an intense battle between two of the league’s best quarterbacks. The Ben Roethlisberger vs. Joe Flacco bouts were legendary, as both teams won a Super Bowl behind each of their arms. Between crazy fines on head coaches to the “immaculate extension,” this decade grew the rivalry into legend.

Memorable Steelers-Ravens Games

This rivalry has provided plenty of physical action, close finishes and controversy. A lot of it centered around the 2008 season. The Steelers won all three matchups, including an overtime regular-season victory and 23-14 AFC Championship victory. The first game went down to the wire, with that 46-yard game-winning field goal coming in OT.

Later that year the Steelers won the AFC North by knocking off the Ravens with a controversial win. Darren Stone cost the Ravens late in the playoff game, and Troy Polamalu sealed it. The game’s last score came as Polamalu crossed the endzone returning an interception for a touchdown.

Infamous Steelers-Ravens Moments

Ravens vs Steelers 2

It’s not often a head coach of Mike Tomlin’s stature gets fined for interfering on the field, but that was the case in 2013. The Thanksgiving game between the Ravens and Steelers was coming to an end, where the Steelers were forced to convert a 2-point conversion. They failed, giving the Ravens the win.

The indelible image of that game, though, was Tomlin interfering on the field with a Jacoby Jones kickoff return, resulting in a $10k fine.

Antonio Brown has been around plenty of drama in his career and provided one of the most devastating plays in Ravens history in the season finale of the 2016 season. With just nine seconds remaining, Brown extended his arm over the goal line, winning the game for the Steelers and ending the Ravens season in the process.

Notable Players

One of the fiercest defensive players to play in this rivalry was James Harrison, playing for the Steelers then the Ravens, before rejoining the Steelers. Jacoby Jones also played for both teams, as did all-time defensive back Rod Woodson.

Mike Wallace made his only Pro Bowl as a Steelers wide receiver before playing later for the Ravens.
