It’s all getting a bit tasty down at the foot of the Premier League. QPR and Burnley’s ship might well have sailed, although Hull’s consecutive victories and Leicester’s revival means that Aston Villa hover just two points above the drop zone.

Tim Sherwood certainly won’t be allowing FA Cup final chat in the dressing room while the situation in the Premier League remains precarious, with the manager hoping to inspire his team to a vital win against an Everton side who are enjoying their best form of the season.

Roberto Martinez’s team have laboured for much of the campaign, although last Sunday’s 3-0 victory against Manchester United was convincing and the Merseyside team will arrive at Villa Park full of confidence.

The downside to supporting Everton is that they aren’t effective on the road this term, with just four wins recorded all campaign. The victories have come away to QPR, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Burnley, confirming that the visitors are flat-track bullies of sorts.

The fact that the Toffees have little to play for means we’re going to side with the Midlands side for small stakes, with Christian Benteke likely to pose more of a threat to the Everton defence than Manchester United were able to do.
