Welsh football has emerged from the doldrums thanks to the impact of Gareth Bale as a player, Chris Coleman as a manager and Swansea City as a football team.

Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor are the Swans forming half of the Welsh defence, with the national side having stunned everyone with a string of excellent qualifying results which have included taking four points from Belgium.

Coleman will naturally be guarding against complacency for this trip to Nicosia to face a Cyprus team who sit fourth in the qualifying group after three victories and three defeats.

It’s worth noting that there was little between the two sides when they met on 13 October last year, with Wales taking an early 2-0 lead only to be pegged back to 2-1 and then have to hold out with ten men for most of the second half.

However, with numerical parity and plenty of improvement found, we’re banking on Gareth Bale to lead his team to another important victory, with this Welsh team now having strength in all departments.

Coleman’s side have improved as the campaign has wore on, with a 3-0 victory in Israel illustrating what happens when a team leaves gaps for the visitors to counter-attack and Aaron Ramsey is looking in good nick for Arsenal and ready to make an impact here.
