England have two more friendly matches before the preparation for Euro 2016 intensifies, with Australia the visitors to Sunderland on Friday evening.

Roy Hodgson saw the Three Lions win 2-1 against Turkey on Sunday, with Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy teaming up to great effect, although there were concerns defensively and not just because the opposition scored.

Vardy will be missing from the squad for the clash against the Socceroos as the Leicester man is getting married on Wednesday, meaning that Marcus Rashford could come into the England team and attempt to show his worth.

A year ago, nobody had heard of Rashford although his performances for Manchester United have certainly caught the eye of Roy Hodgson this season and Gary Neville is reported to be a big fan of the young forward.

With Daniel Sturridge struggling with an injury, it might be that Rashford can stake his claim in the 23-man squad and leave the Liverpool man on the sidelines this summer.

Sturridge scored the opening goal of the recent Europa League final, with his team-mates Jordan Henderson and Nathaniel Clyne also likely to start this game as the former needs to prove his fitness.

Danny Drinkwater and Andros Townsend are also likely to get a run-out, with Australia a fairly modest outfit who are captained by Crystal Palace midfield Mile Jedinak.

Jedinak is one of the few players who operate at a decent club level, with Liverpool youngster Brad Smith among those in the squad and we’re likely to see England run in a few goals as a confidence booster here.

Australia don’t have the luxury of including their Asia-based players such as Tim Cahill in this squad and they are unlikely to stop England racking up a few goals as the ultimate confidence booster ahead of that final friendly game against Portugal.
