We’re heading to the halfway stage of the Championship season and many have already declared that Wolverhampton Wanderers are past the post, with the Black Country mob having accrued forty-eight points from twenty-one matches.

Nuno Espirito Santo illustrates what happens when an English club look outside of the box for a new manager, with the Portuguese boss attracting some exciting talent and managing to blend them with existing players in the squad.

Wolves were enjoying a six-game winning run until Saturday when they were surprisingly thwarted by a Sunderland team scrapping for their lives and there has been the odd occasion where the Midlands side have been denied.

QPR and Sheffield United have both inflicted defeats on the league leaders and we should expect the odd disappointment despite Wanderers illustrating they are the stand-out team in this division.

Sheffield Wednesday have come desperately close to promotion in the past couple of seasons although it’s been a slog this time around for the Owls who have failed to win any of their previous five matches.

A succession of four draws was followed by a 3-1 reverse at Norwich on Saturday and some fans are calling for a change of manager, with Carlos Carvalhal seeing his team relinquish a half-time lead at Carrow Road.

Wednesday haven’t lost at Hillsborough aside from a 4-2 reverse at home to Sheffield United in the derby and we should expect them to come out fighting and demonstrate to their supporters that they can hold the best teams in the division.
