Tony Pulis made a telling comment after his team’s 2-1 reverse against Everton, namely that West Brom aren’t particularly good at chasing the game.

Indeed, the Baggies are all about a tight defence and that will be out in force against a Middlesbrough side who have four points on the board after drawing at home to Stoke and then winning at Sunderland.

Aitor Karanka will consider a return of five points from the first three matches as a solid outcome, with Boro another side for whom defending is a strength as they demonstrated by having the meanest rearguard in the Championship last term.

Antonio Barragan has slotted in alongside Ben Gibson, with Adam Clayton and Adam Forshaw adding plenty of defensive steel in the midfield department and they’ll have to be in tough-tackling mode on Sunday.

West Brom opened with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace and Tony Pulis continues to call for reinforcements after Everton really opened them up at The Hawthorns. The 2-1 scoreline didn’t do justice to the amount of chances that the Toffees created throughout the game.

A strong side were beaten in the League Cup on penalties at Northampton, although Salomon Rondon, Darren Fletcher and Claudio Yacob will return to the first team for this one.

Both teams’ safety-first approach means that just a solitary goal might be enough to win the game although Under 1.5 Goals gives us plenty of insurance and hopefully a winning outcome.
