Betting Tip: Baadi @ 1/1 with bet365

Plenty of racing today (too much, perhaps?) and I can’t believe we’re already into the evening fare.

Yes, Windsor has a 4.50pm start and the ground at the Berkshire venue is set to be heavy, so we’re looking for horses proven in the conditions. The first bet ticks that box and can also boast the best form, with his stable absolutely flying to boot. I’m talking about the Charlie Fellowes-trained BAADI, who contests the 1m2f maiden (due off 5.50pm).

He showed progressive form in three starts last season, including when finishing second on the second of those at Nottingham on ground that was officially ‘soft’. He stepped up on that when again finishing runner-up on his third and final start at Ripon and that form looks rock solid as the third won next time out and the winner Argus twice more.

Andrea Atzeni was on board Argus for the last of those wins and he will get the leg up on the selection this afternoon, with his strike rate for the stable standing at an impressive 29% (2-7). But it’s the current stable form is more compelling with five winners already on the board this term – including 20/1 shot Accession at Newmarket last week – and nine others finishing in the first three.

Since writing this on Sunday afternoon, most bookmakers have priced up the selection at a shade of odds-on (bet365 are alone in going evens), which is a shame but understandable all the same – given he has so much going for him he may go off even shorter!
