Netflix continues to be one of the most popular ways to watch shows in 2024 in Canada. New shows are popping up all the time, and Canadians continue to tune in to all of these shows.

What was the most popular Netflix show in 2024? Putting sports betting aside for a moment, we’ve pulled together the data from Google Trends to show you what the most popular shows were in each province and the most popular overall. Check out what the most popular Netflix shows were in each Canadian province below.

Fool Me Once

When it comes to the most watched Netflix shows, Fool Me Once owned the title in three Canadian provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Fool Me Once focuses on a woman whose husband was murdered, and then when she installs a nanny cam to watch over her daughter, her husband is seen. It was a very popular show amongst Netflix viewers last year, especially for viewers in Alberta, British Columbia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Interestingly, it was viewed the most in Canada’s two most western provinces.

The Gentleman

The Gentleman reigned supreme in three Canadian provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. The Gentleman was created by director Guy Ritchie, and it is similar in theme to some of his famous films, such as Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. The show is based on The Gentleman, a film from 2019 with the same name. The show The Gentleman is about a man who inherits his family estate and finds out that it is home to a huge weed empire. It was a very popular show in the eastern provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, plus in Ontario, which is the most populous province in Canada in terms of potential viewer eyeballs.

Monster

Monster was the most popular Netflix TV show in two provinces: Quebec and Saskatchewan. Monster focuses on the lives of killers, and in season two, the show focuses on the Menendez Brothers. It’s a popular show and caught the eye of viewers in Quebec and Saskatchewan. True crime is popular in most provinces, so it’s not a surprise this show was so popular in these provinces. It is worth mentioning that Quebec is second only to Ontario in terms of population.

Others

Other shows mentioned were Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was the most popular Netflix show in Manitoba, and One Day, which was the most popular show in Prince Edward Island. These shows were of course watched by viewers in other Canadian provinces, but they were the most popular in at least one province each, which we felt was also worth mentioning.
