A total of 22 schools are represented in the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments this week. Considering there are nearly potential schools that vie for just 68 spots in each bracket, that is no small feat.
The ultimate goal for any university, of course, is to win a March Madness national championship. But why stop there? How about winning two national championships in a single year?
As the college basketball future odds reflect, it’s way easier said than done.
For the second year in a row, the Connecticut Huskies have the best odds of any athletic program to win both the men’s and women’s national championships. Their odds of 84/1 of you parlay their men’s odds to win (4/1, the tournament favorites) and women’s odds to win (16/1).
South Carolina’s women’s team is its tournament favorite with unheard-of minus odds for a 68-team field, at -130. The odds the Gamecocks win both the women’s and men’s titles is 248/1, the second-lowest. Texas is the only other program with odds lower than 8,000/1.
Winning both championships in the same year has happened twice before, and UConn accomplished both feats, in 2004 and 2014. Winning both titles again in 2024 would be on-brand for the perennial powerhouse Huskies.
UConn also had the best odds to sweep the titles last year, as well, at 170/1 (0.58%).
Here are the odds for each school that has teams in both NCAA Tournament fields:
