College Football Bowl Odds, Pairings, Tips & Schedule 2019

Selection Sunday lacked drama thanks to Saturday’s conference championship results, but the field is finally set for the 2019-20 College Football Playoff. LSU surpassed Ohio State for the No. 1 seed with a blowout win over Georgia in the SEC title game. DraftKings lists the Tigers as -12.5 favorites over the Oklahoma Sooners, who landed the No. 4 spot with a little help from Oregon’s upset win over Utah.

The Buckeyes dropped to No. 2 and will face No. 3 Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl, with Clemson getting the nod as a -2.5 favorite at DraftKings. Ohio State opened as a one-point favorite at some sportsbooks, but the odds shifted quickly. The Tigers smoked Virginia in the ACC title game amid doubters pointing to a significantly weak schedule. How Clemson performs against an elite OSU team will settle that debate once and for all in Arizona.

LSU is now the favorite to win the National Championship, listed with +120 odds at DraftKings. Clemson is next at +200, OSU is +225 and Oklahoma is a whopping +1200. Available odds listed.

New Year’s Six & CFP Title Game

Peach Bowl: LSU vs. Oklahoma

Betting line: LSU -11.5

Moneyline: LSU (-385), Oklahoma (+280)

Total: 75.5

The Tigers moved into the No. 1 spot thanks to a dominant win over Georgia in the SEC title game. They’ll take on an Oklahoma team that escaped a thriller against Baylor to move into the CFP after Utah fell by the wayside against Oregon. LSU is a -11.5 favorite in a line that could certainly reach two touchdowns in the coming weeks. Sportsbooks are expecting tons of offense with the 75.5 total, as Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts go head-to-head at MercedesBens Stadium in Atlanta.

Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State vs. Clemson

Betting line: Clemson -2.5

Moneyline: Clemson (-121), Ohio State (+102)

Total: 61.5

Clemson opens as a slight favorite over the Buckeyes, who overcame a first-half scare to handle Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game. Dabo Swinney continues to play the disrespect card due to the No. 3 ranking. Sportsbooks and the early money suggest he has a point by making the Tigers the early favorite. OSU quarterback Justin Fields didn’t look totally healthy against the Badgers, but he’ll have a few weeks to heal up and get back to full strength for what should be a thrilling semifinal showdown in Arizona.

Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Baylor

Looking at the oh-so-close bowl here, with a pair of teams that each could have entered the CFP with a conference championship win. The Bears fell just short in an overtime loss to Oklahoma, while Georgia got rolled by LSU in Atlanta. The Bulldogs still finished fifth in the final CFP rankings despite the blowout loss. Baylor dropped to No. 7 behind an Oregon team that upset Utah and allowed the Sooners to sneak in and grab the fourth spot.

Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Wisconsin

Wisconsin gets the nod over Penn State after blowing a 21-7 halftime lead over Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. That should be provide plenty of motivation against a Ducks team that would probably be in the CFP if not for a Week 1 loss to Auburn. Hate to see a team get punished due to tough scheduling. This is a rematch of the 2012 Rose Bowl, in which the Ducks got by with a thrilling 45-38 win over the Badgers.

Orange Bowl: Florida vs. Virginia

The Gators are a big favorite here and had a better season than most realize, with lone losses to LSU and Georgia. Virginia got smoked by Clemson coming off their big win over Virginia Tech, but the Cavs did enough to get the nod over fellow ACC hopefuls. This will be the Gator’s first Orange Bowl appearance since a 56-23 win over Maryland back in 2002.

Cotton Bowl: Penn State vs. Memphis

The Nittany Lions surely feel slighted by missing the Rose Bowl. They’ll take on an underrated Memphis team that beat Cincinnati in back-to-back weeks to win the conference and secure a New Year’s Six bid. The Tigers nearly ran the table and suffered a lone loss on a controversial late call at Temple. PSU came close to upsetting Ohio State in Columbus and turning the season on its head, but a trip to Dallas will serve as a consolation.
