One of the top players in the NBA over the last decade, Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler could soon find himself on a new team. If he allows it. According to reports, the Heat are listening to trade offers for “Jimmy Buckets,” and Butler himself has requested a new team. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns are the only team in which would agree to a long-term deal, though other teams could come calling.
With Butler potentially being moved ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline, Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has updated NBA odds for where Butler could land.

Butler does not have a no-trade clause, but he's having a big say in where Miami can move him by refusing to sign a long-term deal. He has a player option for next season that he will surely take unless he gets the massive deal he's seeking. Butler has nixed several potential trades with various teams. But with the deadline looming, the "beggars can't be choosers" thoughts begin creeping in.
Phoenix likely must move Beal or Kevin Durant to be able to afford Butler. If the Suns can't make it happen, the Butler wants to finish the season somewhere other than Miami, then he may have to be OK with Plan B.
Top Contenders
One thing to keep in mind is that Butler has a player option for next year, so he would likely be a rental for whatever team acquires him, as he seems likely to opt out and test the market.
Phoenix Suns
NBA insiders say the Suns are looking for a way to acquire Butler, but given all the salary cap hoops to jump through, it would take at least a third team, and probably a fourth, to make it work.
Finding a trade partner to take Bradley Beal and his massive salary is a requirement. We've seen a lot of NBA stars get their way in the end, and if the Suns want him bad enough, it will happen.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are looking to win their fifth NBA title in the past decade and bringing Butler to San Francisco would be a huge get for the team. The problem with the Warriors is they lack the young players and draft picks the Heat would covet, but if there is a way to make a reasonable trade between these two squads, then Golden State feels like a real option for a trade.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks can move contributors with player options coming up, namely Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis, and make this a deal Miami would be interested in.

Other Potentials
Minnesota Timberwolves
Julius Randle was high on the Heat's list before he was traded from the Knicks to Minnesota. He reportedly remains high on the list, and The Wolves could seek an offensive upgrade at small forward to take pressure off Anthony Edwards.
Miami Heat
The Heat may very well end up keeping Butler past the deadline and try to convince him to sign an extension with the team. Bridges may have been burned, but if Miami can't get what it's seeking on the trade market, keeping him is entirely possible.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers have had a rough start to the season but have recently turned things around. With older, injury-prone superstars like Joel Embiid and Paul George at the top of the team’s salary sheet, a reunion with Butler – who played 55 games for the Sixers in 2018-19 – makes sense if the team is going all-in and trying to take one last shot at a title with this core.
