When healthy, Paul George has been the player the Los Angeles Clippers thought they were getting when they traded five first-round picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder to get him four years ago.

Unfortunately, “when healthy” has become a major sticking point in the value of PG-13. In four seasons with L.A., the most games he’s played in a season is 56. The Clippers aren’t sure anymore they can count on George being there when it counts most, either. He has missed all playoff games the past two seasons.

The Clippers aren’t shopping George, but they reportedly will listen to offers for him. It’s a high-risk, high-reward opportunity for teams out there seeking a potential star.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed his hypothetical NBA futures odds as to which team George plays for in 2023-24.

What's Paul George's Future in LA?

Durability wasn’t always an issue with George. He played in at least 75 games in six of the previous seven years with the Pacers and Thunder before fragility set in with L.A. With the Clippers, he’s missed time due to knee, hamstring, elbow and toe issues.

When it comes to producing, he still excels. In his 56 games this season, George averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists. All those numbers were down slightly from his 2021-22 campaign, which also offers up more questions about, at 33, how much is left in the tank.

Brandon Miller, who was drafted No. 2 overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2023 NBA Draft, called George “The GOAT.” Players and teams know what George is capable of.

The Clippers acquired George and Kawhi Leonard as a 1-2 punch that could lead the team to an elusive NBA title. Health has been the issue with both standouts.

George and Leonard are both making $45.6 million for 2023-24 and a player option for 24-25, so the Clippers have big decisions to make. Moving George for someone locked into more years could be a strategy.

Reports have surfaced that they’re willing to give it another go with the duo, but lines are open

Who might call?

Where Does PG-13 Play if Not LA?

The New York Knicks are eager to find a star to lead the charge of an up-and-coming squad. Clippers management apparently likes RJ Barrett; Barrett or Julius Randle could be part of a package. New York also has four first-round picks in next year’s draft. With the Clippers in win-now mode, they may prefer players over picks.

After the Knicks, look for aggressive quasi-contenders and those flush with money and opportunity to come calling.

The Houston Rockets have more cap space than any team and a slew of tradeable chips. They did just draft Amen Thompson at No. 4 to slot him into the small forward spot – the same position as George.

The San Antonio Spurs are also planning on a worst-to-first type of jump. They added Victor Wembanyama but could use a big wing to help the emerging Keldon Johnson and take pressure off the younger core.

The Portland Trail Blazers kicked the tires on George, but reportedly have moved on from the idea. Still, if there is a sense of urgency to win now with Damian Lillard, George might be one of the best fits to play alongside Dame.

There are rumors that a Scoot Henderson/George swap was discussed on draft night, so maybe that is revisited eventually since it makes a ton of sense for both teams. Portland currently has the worst salary cap situation in the NBA, which complicates matters.

The Brooklyn Nets might have the most pieces to entice the Clippers. Brooklyn is in a state of flux, but there is room to rise in the top-heavy Eastern Conference.

If the Philadelphia 76ers lose out on James Harden, who is opting out of his final year to become a free agent, they’ll react in an effort to keep NBA MVP Joel Embiid happy and on a contender.

The Field includes teams that need a jolt or a final piece to the puzzle. It remains to be seen if any of them would be keen to unload a slew of talent and picks for the oft-injured, expensive George. That includes teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat

The rebuilding Washington Wizards could take that contract that likely expires after this season and would pair George with Jordan Poole, who he believes can be a star

The Atlanta Hawks just traded PF John Collins, the first of what could be several moves in an effort to re-energize the team. That said, defense was the issue last year and George hasn’t been known for his prowess on that side of the floor the last several seasons.
