Manchester City have overtaken Liverpool as favourites to win the Premier League, with bookmakers making the defending champions odds-on (5/6) to lift the title again, pushing the Reds out to 11/10.

Only last Wednesday, Liverpool were as short as 1/3 to win the league, but successive draws against Leicester and West Ham have seen Jurgen Klopp’s men slip behind City in the betting, if not the league table.

Although the Reds are still top the table, a victory for City against Everton on Wednesday will see the reigning champions move ahead on goal difference.

After beating Arsenal 3-1 on Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s side are being backed to take control of the title race, and return as 5/6 favourites for the first time since Boxing Day.

With 13 games to go for each team, there’s sure to be plenty of twists and turns in one of the most hotly contested championships in recent seasons.

An 888Sport spokesman said: “Pep Guardiola will have been watching events at the London Stadium last night with glee – Liverpool dropping points for the second game in succession now puts City back as title favourites.

“There’s certainly a long way to go, but Jurgen Klopp will hope his side can recover quickly as they chase their first league title since 1990.”

Meanwhile, Bet365 are betting on how much the Premier League title will be won by – with goal difference quoted at 6/1.

Spokesman Steve Freeth said: “We’ve seen Man City priced at 1/5 in December and Liverpool touch 4/11 at the end of January, but a midweek win at Goodison would see the Citizens back on top by goal difference.

“Spurs, despite their injuries, are also in the mix, so it’s a title race that could go to the wire - just like it did in 2012.”
