MotoGP is back this weekend after a chaotic race in Austin, Texas during the Grand Prix of the Americas.

This week, the world’s best motorcycle racers will head to the Spanish Grand Prix.

Marc Marquez is once again favored to win (-182) his home race although MotoGP bettors may be wary of taking the multi-time world champion.

Will Marquez Rebound After Accident?

It seemed like a lock that Marc Marquez would continue his streak as the only MotoGP winner at the Americas Grand Prix last race.

Marquez had a commanding lead over the entire field, before wrecking on one of the 20 turns that the Circuit of the Americas has.

He would not only lose his first-place position in the race, but he was also forced to retire as his motorcycle would not work.

As a result, Marquez fell from first place to fourth in the world title standings.

Despite this, he is still the heavy favorite to win the title but will need to begin playing catch up now.

Marquez enters the Spanish Grand Prix as the odds-on favorite to win, having won this event last year.

A Spaniard has won this event in five of the last six years, as countryman Jorge Lorenzo has won at this circuit three times.

Alex Rins Rising in 2019

Alex Rins has seen a surprising climb to the top in this early MotoGP season.

He currently sits in third place of the MotoGP world title standings, given odds at +900 to take the crown.

What has been most impressive about Rins this season is his consistency.

Rins has seen a top-5 finish in every race this year and even beat Valentino Rossi at the Americas Grand Prix following Marquez’s crash.

Once Marquez retired from the race, it was between Rins and Rossi with the latter leading throughout. But then Rins finally overtook Rossi for his first victory of the 2019 season.

Speaking of Rossi, the Italian icon is currently second in the world title standings along with the second-best odds to win in Spain (+700).

Rossi has seen back-to-back second place finishes and now enters a race he has won seven times (at the MotoGP level).

The odds of Rossi winning might be better than advertised, as his most recent win at the Spanish GP was in 2016.

It’s also worth noting that there hasn’t been a back-to-back winner at the Spanish Grand Prix since Lorenzo in 2010 and 2011.

For those contemplating a historic bet and wanting to stay away from Marquez following a wreck, Rossi and Rins may be the way to go.

Dovizioso Quietly Leads MotoGP Standings

Andrea Dovizioso has quietly crept his way to the top of the MotoGP world title standings and currently has odds to win at +600.

Dovizioso won the first race of the season but hasn’t won since then. He finished fourth during the Americas Grand Prix which marked his worst finish of the 2019 season.

The reason Dovizioso is atop the world title standings is because he is the only rider to finish in the top four in every race. Every other MotoGP rider this season has seen at least one finish outside the top five.

There are still 16 more races to go this however, so it will be difficult for Dovizioso to sustain his top standing.

However, Marquez’s wreck in America has opened the playing field for now as riders look to take advantage of their rare opportunity this weekend.
