Robert Lewandowski is the firm favorite to win the Champions League Golden Boot this season following his stunning double for Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Yet Raheem Sterling, Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah are also in the running for the gong this term, according to online sportsbooks.

Lewandowski’s two goals helped Bayern overcome Olympiakos 3-2 in Athens and raise his personal European tally for this season to five.

The Poland international has never won the UCL golden boot — an award instead claimed by either Messi, Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo since 2007.

Lewandowski Favourite For Golden Boot

But oddsmakers are dropping their prices on Lewandowski after this third round of Champions League games.

They’ve crushed their odds on Lewandowski winning the golden book to an all-time low of +350, having priced the 31-year-old out at +1200 at the start of October.

The Pole isn’t the only player enjoying an odds crunch off the back of this week’s Champions League fixtures. And when you look at the betting trends on this market, it’s clear to see just how volatile the odds can be.

Sterling scored three goals in City’s 5-1 win over Atalanta on Tuesday to take his UCL tally for the season to four. The strikes saw sportsbooks more than half Sterling’s golden boot odds from +1400 to +600.

Meanwhile, six-time golden boot winner Messi is as long as +700 to claim the prize despite him scoring just once in Europe this term.

The striker has drifted from his +400 starting price with in August but remains one of the frontrunners due to his reputation, rather than form.

Liverpool gem Mohamed Salah boasts three goals in Europe and his odds have fluctuated over the first three group games.

All Eyes on Haaland

Yet the big twist in the Champions League golden boot betting markets is the arrival of Erling Haaland. The Red Bull Salzburg star claimed his fifth and sixth goals of the competition in the 3-2 loss to Napoli on Wednesday.

Haaland now tops the charts but, incredibly, he wasn’t even priced by many sportsbooks when the Champions League group stage began in August.

William Hill started their book on the youngster after his hat-trick against Genk in Salzburg’s second group game. Since then, his golden boot odds have already fallen from +2200 to +1200.

One of the reasons Haaland’s price is not at the level of Lewandowski or Sterling is likely because Salzburg aren’t expected to reach the latter stages of the Champions League.

Since 2011, six of the nine golden boot winners have also reached the Champions League final that same
