Atlanta Falcons NFL Draft Odds: Every Angle On The Table

Adam Thompson | 4 mins

The Atlanta Falcons suffered a fourth-consecutive losing season in 2021, and there may not be enough draft picks to turn things around this quickly.
The 7-9 record under first-year coach Arthur Smith is actually impressive since the team ranked 26th in points scored and 29th in points allowed, as well as bottom-10 in both yardage categories.

The Matt Ryan era is over after he and his large contract were traded to the Colts. Marcus Mariota was signed from the Raiders and is the QB1 for now, but he needs talent and protection around him. The defense is especially poor vs. the run but could use help in the secondary. In other words, nearly every angle is on the table when Atlanta selects at No. 8 in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed who the Atlanta Falcons are most likely to choose with the No. 8 overall pick.

Who Will The Atlanta Falcons Take In NFL Draft?
The Falcons ranked No. 9 in interior offensive line production, and the D-line ranked dead-last vs. the run. That’s somewhere to start. But there is no top-level wide receiver on the roster and the run game doesn’t scare anyone.
Atlanta is available around +6000 to win Super Bowl 57 on NFL futures markets, so it stands to say the “best available” mantra might be the way Atlanta goes. Travon Walker displayed his power at the NFL Combine and jumped up the draft boards. If he isn’t taken by the Giants at No. 5 he could be sitting here for the Falcons.

If he’s not available, then the Falcons likely shift focus to receiver. There are three WRs that could be taken anywhere from No. 7 to No. 16, but it’s possible the Falcons can choose any of those three.
It’s also possible the Falcons find the QB of the future. While Malik Willis of Liberty might be off the board by No. 9, Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett should be there. Mariota is only 28, so QB is an option but not a necessity.

Garrett Wilson’s Odds To join The Falcons
There are a lot of concerns for the Falcons, but none are as pressing as receiver. As it stands now, the Falcons’ starting WRs are Olamide Zaccheaus and Auden Tate. In other words, the top three receivers in the NFL Draft would start in Week 1 in Atlanta.
Wilson might have the best upside. In a season that will be part of a rebuild, the high-ceiling Wilson – who runs a sub-4.4 40 and was compared to Colts veteran T.Y. Hilton but more NFL-ready – is the best option for Mariota and the offense.
