Not Just One Team

Best NFL Record In 2020? Ravens Top Pick, Seahawks A Sleeper 1

While the wager is for which team finishes with the best record, recent history shows it’s usually more than a one team that earns the distinction.

Over the last six seasons, three times the regular-season wins title was held by a single team. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens went 14-2 last year, Tom Brady’s Patriots finished 14-2 in 2016 and Cam Newton’s Panthers went 15-1 in 2015.

In 2018, the Rams and Saints each went 13-3, while in 2017 and 2014, the wins crown was shared by four teams (13-3 record in ’17, 12-4 in ’14).

Strength Of Schedule A Factor

Despite playing in a relatively average AFC East, the Patriots have the single-toughest schedule of any NFL team, based on tough inter-division matchups. The 49ers and Bills are also in the top five.

Three of the teams on the board are in the bottom five. That includes the Ravens, who won 14 games last year and have the easiest schedule of any team in 2020.

The Steelers have the second-easiest, the Cowboys the third-easiest.

Top Picks

Baltimore Ravens +420

It would be easy to take Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions. But let’s not forget how good the Ravens actually were last year.

They didn’t just go 14-2, they dominated, finishing fourth in total offense and second in total defense. They scored 59 more points than any other NFL team, and only the Patriots and Bills allowed fewer.

The Ravens return just about everyone from that team, and with extra motivation after a surprising AFC Divisional Round loss to the Titans. And they have the easiest schedule in the league. Bet the Ravens to have the best record in 2020 at DraftKings.

Seattle Seahawks +2200

Best NFL Record In 2020? Ravens Top Pick, Seahawks A Sleeper 2

Looking for a sleeper? The Seahawks have been good, year-in and year-out, for eight straight seasons. Their worst year was a 9-7 campaign in 2017, but they’ve finished in double-digit victories every other year in that span, and have had 11 or more five times, including a 13-3 mark.

The team just acquired All-Pro safety Jamal Adams from the Jets to shore up its 27th-ranked pass defense. In a division with the fading Rams and not-quite-there Cardinals, there is opportunity.

The 2020 Seahawks schedule starts tough but ends with home games against the Giants, Jets and Rams and road games at Washington and San Francisco. Seattle has a homefield advantage worth fighting for. If Russell Wilson and Co. are in position to secure it late, they’re going for it. Take the Seahawks at FanDuel if you're looking for a sleeper pick.
