One of the best games of the Week 1 slate features two of the most exciting offenses in the NFL in the Arizona Cardinals and the Tennessee Titans. However, how they operate on offense couldn’t be any different. The Titans use a ball-control style of offense that is highly efficient through the air and on the ground. But the Cardinals use a high-volume passing attack that relies on screens and QB runs. It should be a fascinating battle of contrasting styles in Week 1.

While the offenses should be a lot of fun to watch, it’s the defenses that are the story here. Both units really struggled last year, and that forced both sides to make some massive upgrades this season. But can either defense make enough stops to win this game? We shall see. Here is everything you need to know from an NFL betting perspective about the Cardinals vs. Titans odds entering Week 1.

Arizona sports betting is scheduled to go live on Sept. 9, just in time for this opener, which is sure to seem some action both in the Grand Canyon State as well as at Tennessee betting sites.

Cardinals vs. Titans Key Matchups

Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins vs. Titans CB Janoris Jenkins: The Titans have rebuilt their cornerback room, and it will be Janoris Jenkins who will be up first to stop arguably the best receiver in football. That is a tall task for anyone, but especially for the 32-year old Jenkins.

Titans WR Julio Jones vs. Cardinals CB Marco Wilson: Jones is now the No. 2 receiver for the Titans and will likely be matched up against rookie cornerback Marco Wilson. Don’t be surprised if Jones has massive debut for the Titans against an unproven rookie.

Cardinals RT Kelvin Beachum vs. Titans EDGE Bud Dupree: Two former Steelers, Dupree will likely have the advantage against Beachum, especially in the run game.

5 Key Cardinals vs. Titans Stats

  • Cardinals are just 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games
  • Titans have lost four of their last five games against NFC West opponents
  • Titans are 1-5 ATS in their last six games played in September
  • Total has gone over in six-straight road games for the Cardinals
  • The Titans are 1-4 ATS in their last five Week 1 games

Cardinals vs. Titans Player Props To Consider

Derrick Henry under 105.5 rushing yards

Odds: -114 on FanDuel

Henry has led the NFL in rushing yards in back-to-back seasons, but he is a historically slow starter. In 2017, he rushed for just 25 yards. In 2018, only 26 yards. Look for the Cardinals to load up to stop the run, daring the Titans to pass the ball. Henry should have a fine game, but 105.5 rushing yards seems a tad high.

Chase Edmonds over 22.5 receiving yards

Odds: -114 on FanDuel

Edmonds is now the full-time running back in Arizona, which means he should see even more work than usual. Last season, Edmonds averaged 25.1 receiving yards per game and he will face-off against a Titans team that struggles to cover running backs in the passing game.

Ryan Tannehill over 249.5 passing yards

Odds: -114 on FanDuel

During Tannehill's career in Tennessee, he’s averaged 247 passing yards per game. But the Cardinals present a unique opportunity for this offense as this might be the worst secondary in the NFL. Look for the Titans to stay balanced, but for Tannehill to easily eclipse 250 yards as he throws to A.J. Brown and Julio Jones.

Cardinals vs. Titans Moneyline

The Cardinals did not finish the 2020 season well, dropping five of their last seven games. Meanwhile, the Titans won five of their last seven games heading into the playoffs. While these teams appear to be similar on paper, they are clearly trending in two different directions.

With the Titans being at home in this game, it’s tough to pick against them considering how well they finished the season. It’s also important to remember to shop around for the best odds as they can drastically differ on betting sites. That’s why we like the Titans at BetMGM, as they currently have the best odds on the board.

Cardinals vs. Titans Point Spread

It’s not uncommon for Week 1 NFL spreads to be very tight as oddsmakers and NFL bettors try to figure out each team. However, this line feels off as the Titans are just the better and more proven team. They have a better run game and an offensive line that should be able to protect Ryan Tannehill.

While the Titans have struggled early in the season over the last few years, they are just a bad matchup for the Cardinals with all of their weapons on offense. Take the Titans to win and cover at FanDuel..

Cardinals vs. Titans Totals

Both of these defenses are among the worst in the NFL, especially in the secondary. That is why the point total of 52 at most sportsbooks is the second-highest of Week 1. And with the all the new additions for both teams on offense, it’s likely that inexperienced bettors will take the Over here.

However, the smart bet is to take the Under as both offenses will likely need time to get adjusted to their new weapons. Both teams could still score in the mid-20s and the under could hit. That is one of our favorite NFL picks this weekend, so take the Under 52 DraftKings.
