The New York Jets have their quarterback of the future and an All-Pro running back in the mix, making them an interesting NFL betting proposition. But much work still must be done to be a contender in what is suddenly a wide open AFC East.

The Jets own the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and they could go in a multitude of directions. FanDuel has posted odds as to which rookie New York adds with its first-round draft pick.

What the Jets Need

Going into the offseason, the Jets need two things more than anything: Quality offensive linemen to protect Sam Darnold, and offensive linemen that can run block for Le’Veon Bell. In other words, they need offensive linemen.

They went out and spent big on a new center, guard and left tackle. But there’s a big hole at right tackle.

Letting WR Robby Anderson leave via free agency also creates a problem. The Jets added Breshad Perriman in free agency, but his track record doesn’t indicate he’s the answer to all of New York’s receiving questions.

Who Will Be There At No. 11

The 2020 NFL Draft is good for teams looking for help at offensive tackle and wide receiver. This is a huge pick for Jets general manager Joe Douglas in his first draft with the team.

At No. 11, the Jets should find a plug-and-play tackle still on the board. But New York could have the pick of the litter in a deep class of WRs, including CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma and Jerry Jeudy of Alabama.

Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could give the Jets a needed wide threat on offense.

The Pick

The Jets have made a dent in their big O-line issues. They’re not done, and tackle remains a big question mark. If OL Andrew Thomas out of Georgia is available, it would be tough to pass him up. He’d be the top tackle for the Jets the first day of training camp and can play either tackle position – an important asset in case free agent signee George Fant, a part-time starter for the Seahawks last year, doesn’t pan out.

That said, my top choice for this bet goes to a receiver. Lamb has leapfrogged Jeudy since the NFL Combine to take the No. 1 spot on most WR draft boards. The Jets prioritized offensive line in free agency. Adding targets for Darnold not only makes the passing game better, but it opens space for Bell on the ground. They need a receiver, and Lamb would be a great fit here. Make your bet now at FanDuel.
