The New Orleans Saints were one of the biggest flops in 2024. The team regressed badly, going from nine wins the previous season to just five. That led to the Saints firing former head coach Dennis Allen. After interim head coach Darren Rizzi wasn’t given a new contract, the Saints hired former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

There was some talk that the Saints might cut starting quarterback Derek Carr, but after restructuring his deal, Carr is back under center. That means the Saints will take another position with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

With the Saints about to pick soon, Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has put together hypothetical NFL odds for sports betting on whom the Saints will take with their pick No. 9.

Top 5 Contenders

🏈 Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (+450)

After trading longtime cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders at last season’s trade deadline, the Saints need help at CB, and Will Johnson of Michigan makes a lot of sense for the team at that spot.

🏈 Shemar Stewart, DL, Texas A&M (+500)

The Saints have lots of holes to fill, including on the defensive line, where Shemar Stewart of Texas A&M can help.

🏈 Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona (+500)

QB Derek Carr could also use another high-end target, so picking up Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan would help the Saints’ wide receiver corps.

🏈 Jalon Walker, Edge, Georgia (+750)

Georgia’s Jalon Walker is another potential edge rusher the Saints could target if the defensive line is what they want to improve with their No. 10 pick.

🏈 Tyler Warren, TE, Penn St. (+900)

The Saints could also opt to pick up a new tight end for Carr to throw the ball to, and Tyler Warren of Penn State would certainly be an option for them in that case.

Other Contenders

🏈 Kenneth Grant, DL, Michigan (+950)

Kenneth Grant of Michigan is another defensive lineman the Saints could target if they want to improve that part of their team.

🏈 Jahdae Brown, CB, Texas (+1000)

Cornerback prospect Jahdae Brown of Texas would also help the team’s secondary.

🏈 Matthew Golden, WR, Texas (+1400)

If the Saints want a wide receiver, then Matthew Golden of Texas would be a nice pickup.

🏈 Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan (+1500)

Another potential target at tight end is Colston Loveland of Michigan.

🏈 The Field (+800)

The Saints need help at many positions, so the field is a realistic option for their No. 9 overall pick.
