The Tennessee Titans must forge on for the remainder of the 2021 season without the NFL’s best running back. It begins with a tall task, traveling west to face Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in a marquee Sunday Night Football showdown for Week 9.

Henry, the league leader in rushing attempts, yards and touchdowns, broke his foot in Week 8 and is out for the year. 1.0: The amount Rams QB Matthew Stafford is getting sacked per game, the lowest average in the league. The Titans rank a modest 17th in sacks produced.

7: Carries so far this season for McNichols, who will take over lead duties for Henry, who led the NFL in carries. Adrian Peterson was signed off the street this week and may immediately be used prominently.

77.6: The QBR for Matthew Stafford, the highest in the NFL by a wide margin. Tom Brady (69.4) and Aaron Rodgers (66.8) are the only others above 65.

When it comes to NFL betting on the moneyline, favored Los Angeles is a sizeable -350 on the moneyline, while Tennessee is set at +270.

We don’t know how the Titans’ offense will react without Henry to rely on, but we can assume it won’t be the same. Henry’s production and sheer presence can’t be duplicated. The Rams are playing at the highest of levels, and the Titans’ defense has allowed 31 points in two of its last three games and 30-plus four times in eight. Titans vs. Rams Point Spread

The Rams are favored by 7.5 points on a point-spread line that hasn’t moved since opening. L.A. has just one loss but it’s a modest 4-4 vs. the spread. That said, two of those non-covers came as a 16.5-point favorite. When they were favored by 7.5 vs. the Giants, the Rams won 38-11.

The hook, however, gives us pause. Tennessee has won and covered four straight. The addition of Adrian Peterson and the emergence of Jeremy McNichols may cushion the loss of Henry. The Titans’ pass weapons are elite. We think the Rams will win, but a backdoor cover keeps us off the spread.
