The golf betting and golf picks action continues this week following a brief break in the action, with players heading to Mexico for one of the final events of the year at the World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos.

Players are in for a treat this week, with the Tour heading to a Tiger Woods layout for the first time at El Cardonal at Diamante.

This is also Woods’ first completed design, creating an additional level of intrigue for the week.

Woods himself won’t be teeing it up, but a few big names will make the trek including Ludvig Aberg, priced atop the board at $11,200 at betting apps, and Cameron Young at $10,900.

This is a big one for several players hoping to gain ground in the points standings before the field and events heat up at the start of 2024, and we’ll see who can eventually become the first player to ever win a Tour event at a Tiger Woods design.

World Wide Technology Championship DFS Picks By Price

11K-9K Range

Ludvig Aberg, $11,200: We usually don’t like paying top dollar for players like Aberg on a course they’ve never seen before. But given the discrepancy amongst the field and the tear he’s been on, we don’t mind ponying up for the big name this week.

The 23-year-old Swede has logged six top-15s in a row, including a win at the Omega European Masters and a T-2 at the Sanderson Farms. He’s an absolute menace from tee to green, with tons of pop and a tight irons game.

The putter was hot his last time out at the Shriners and we like Aberg to win this week behind another strong all-around showing.

Emiliano Grillo, $9,700: Grillo is coming off one of his best seasons on Tour, winning for the first time since 2016 at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May. That got him into the Tour Championship and set the tone for another big year in 2024.

Grillo didn’t get off to a very good start, with back-to-back missed cuts to begin the season. But he found his form again with a T-10 at the ZoZo championship earlier this month and should have plenty of confidence heading to Mexico.

Grillo is a strong ball striker who lives in the fairway, so he’s always got a chance to contend when the short game cooperates.

9K-8K Range

Keith Mitchell, $8,800: Mitchell was all over the place for a badly missed cut in his season debut at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He bounced back strong with a T-21 at the ZoZo and we like him to build on that momentum.

This looks like a great course fit for Mitchell – long enough to where his distance gives him an advantage, but not overly tricky enough to give him fits around the greens.

He worked through a tough slump in the summer months and appears to be back in decent form, ready to rock in Mexico.

Davis Thompson, $8,300: We haven’t seen anything flashy out of Thompson to start the season. He’s just quietly cashing checks and getting settled in for his second full season on Tour.

The 24-year-old out of Georgia has a mature, steady game that should play very well around this track. Thompson pipes it off the tee, but he keeps it in play and has a good enough short game to take advantage.

He’s made the cut in six of his last seven starts, including a T-16 at the Sanderson Farms Championship earlier this month.

We think he can improve on that for a top-10 finish this week.

8K-7K Range

Erik Van Rooyen, $7,400: Van Rooyen suffered through a brutal stretch of seven straight missed cuts during the summer months, but he appears to have broken through and come out on the other side.

The 33-year-old South African has now made five consecutive cuts, and he’s logged five top-25s over his last eight starts – He’s also finished T-30 or better in all three Tour starts to begin the new season.

He’s gained strokes with the irons in five consecutive tournaments and clearly worked hard to get to that point. He’s also been much better around the greens and the game is coming to life. We like Van Rooyen a lot at this price.

Nate Lashley, $7,200: It’s been a while since Lashley contended. However, he’s made the cut in seven of the last eight starts, and getting all six players into the weekend is huge for tournaments like this.

The ball striking has been mostly solid and he keeps it in play. That should serve him just fine in Mexico.

For whatever reason, Lashley always seems to play well in the tropical climates. He was T-3 at the Puerto Rico Open last March and T-7 at the Sony Open in Hawaii to start the year.

We haven’t seen him go completely off the rails in a while and this is a good week to get him back in the lineup.

7K and Below

Stewart Cink, $6,900: Cink has been living the good life on the Champions Tour after turning 50 this year, most recently logging a T-7 at the Pure Insurance Championship.

Different deal this week, obviously, but playing well on the senior circuit should have him relaxed and confident coming into Mexico.

Cink has missed the cut in each of his last three Tour starts, but he’s not out of competitive fire yet – he finished T-23 at the British Open and T-37 at the 3M Open earlier this year, against fields far stronger than the one he’ll see this week.

Given the options here, Cink is worth a shot at this price

Carl Yuan, $6,800: Yuan has been on our radar for a while as a promising young talent. He hasn’t lived up to it yet, but there were plenty of flashes last season and the game seems to be in a great spot at the moment.

Yuan logged a T-6 at the Sanderson Farms a few weeks back by keeping it in play off the tee. He’s got more than enough distance and the irons have been cooperating lately.

It’s time for Yuan to start making moves at age 26. This could be a good week for him to build more confidence before some time off in December.
