A number of UK bookmakers are proving indecisive in the Champions League outright betting following Manchester City’s shock defeat to Tottenham on Tuesday night.
City had been the tournament favorites for much of the season, but a 1-0 loss to Spurs in the first European game held at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has forced traders to have a re-think.
The Premier League outfit have been pushed out from 9/4 (+225) to 10/3 (+333) with industry leaders William Hill, Paddy Power, SportingBet and several others.
On the same night, Liverpool put one foot in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Porto, seeing their price come in from 4/1 (+400 ) to 3/1 (+300), meaning three teams now share favortism at the peak of the betting.

Naturally, Tottenham were the biggest movers in the Champions League betting market on the back of beating the favorites in the opening leg, with their odds falling from 28/1 (+2800) to 14/1 (+1400).
Manchester United will do their outside odds of 20/1 (+2000) no harm if they can get a result against the Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona on Wednesday night, but the La Liga side are big favorites to advance through to the last four at 2/9 (-450).
In the Europa League, meanwhile, London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal could meet in Baku for the final and online traders 888Sport are taking bets on two all-English finals taking place in Europe’s two premier club competitions.
Chelsea, who at 7/4 (+175) are favorites for the tournament, will face Slavia Prague on Thursday, while Arsenal (4/1 to lift the trophy) have a tricky tie against Napoli.
“The cycle of European domination appears to have gone the Premier League’s way this season, and two all-English finals could certainly be on the cards,” said a spokesman for 888Sport, who go 20/1 (+2000) on two finals involving all Premier League sides.
“Perhaps appropriately given the current political upheaval, we think that we might see English representation in Europe for quite some time yet.”
