Haley and Hanna Cavinder were Division I-level college basketball players. But to the 1.2 million Instagram followers, they are the Cavinder Twins

After four years of playing college ball, first at Fresno State then at Miami (Fla.), the siblings have announced they will forego their fifth season of eligibility. They won’t be leaving the public eye, or getting out of the sports and entertainment businesses. Instead, they’ll join the first entity to coin the phrase “sports entertainment.”

The Cavinders will begin training with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in the hopes of becoming major players in the billion-dollar wrestling industry.

“We love the WWE,” Haley Cavinder told “The Today Show. “Their fanbase, their sport, the fitness side of it. That fits to (our) brain and aligns great with us. We’re very excited about the future with them.”

But what does the future hold for the sisters and WWE? Bookies.com oddsmaker Adam Thompson has created odds regarding the future pairing in WWE.

The sisters will begin training with WWE in Orlando this spring. The grind to become a pro wrestler has taken out some determined individuals, but the Cavinders come into the process with confidence.

“The WWE, they have a very specific training process They don’t just fit people into storylines and say, ‘Here you go,’” Cavinders agent Jeff Hoffman said. “The twins are D-I athletes, they’re extremely fit, healthy, exercise constantly, but there’s also a process through the training to make sure you understand not only movements but safety.”

The Cavinders have reach and they have money, with an estimated net worth of around $5 million. If the WWE experiment doesn’t work, they have other options to fall back on.

It’s possible the path to success is too tough, the instincts and patience aren’t there, and the partnership splits before it gets too far. The travel could be too much and at some point, the lifestyle isn’t what Haley and Holly were looking for.

But if they stick it out, it’s likely the potential for marketing gold would behoove the WWE to put the straps on the siblings.

Success won’t happen overnight. It took MMA star Ronda Rousey nearly two full years from the time she started training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando to the time she won the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

One would think Rousey’s background as MMA champion would better prepare her for the pro wrestling world than college basketball.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship makes the most sense. It would allow them to work together and find their form as a tandem and establish identities before making any individual run – perhaps in a gimmick similar to the Killer Bees, an old-school WWE tag team whose members looked and dressed alike to confuse referees and opponents.

Then, perhaps, we could see another legendary Shawn Michaels-Marty Jennetty heel turn moment. But first thing’s first.
