This week’s Charles Schwab Challenge has a tough act to follow after one of the most electric golf betting weekends of all time at the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island.
Phil Mickelson became the oldest major winner ever. He also delivered in a huge way for those who backed him at around +25000 odds to start the week. Believe it or not, he’s in the field this week at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, with +7000 odds to go back-to-back.
Jordan Spieth, who won at Colonial in 2016, is the betting favorite at +1050 at the best online sportsbooks, coming off a T-30 finish at the PGA Championship. Justin Thomas is next at +1300 after a disappointing missed cut at Kiawah, while Collin Morikawa is third at +1500.
Abraham Ancer, Tony Finau and Patrick Reed round out the top six with identical +1700 odds at sports betting sites.

Charles Schwab Challenge Expert Picks & Predictions
Ian Poulter Top-10 Finish (+700, DraftKings)
We hit on a Paul Casey top-10 at last week’s PGA Championship and are looking at a different Englishman this week at Colonial.
Ian Poulter finished a respectable T-30 at Kiawah Island and was above-average in almost every facet of the game. The putter was a big bonus and it’s not like he just got hot for one week – Poulter is ninth on Tour in Strokes Gained Putting this season and is equally crafty around the greens.
Poulter has two top-10 finishes at Colonial and knows the course well. And the 45-year-old could take a little motivation from Mickelson winning last week at age 50. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Poulter contend and are on him for a top-10 finish +700 at DraftKings.

Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Tips
This is the type of course that doesn’t really favor one style of play. It’s not a long track at roughly 7,200 yards but bombers have won here before, as have plenty of fairway-and-green machines.
This tournament has been around forever so there’s a ton of course history available. We’ll lean on that heavily this week, weighing odds for guys like Spieth who have traditionally played very well at Colonial.
While putting can be random from week-to-week, this is one of those tournaments where it seems like one of the more important stats. This course is not a huge challenge tee-to-green – certainly nothing like what these guys saw last week at the Ocean Course. We’ll be looking to target strong short games; those types of players tend to do well here. Also look at form from similar courses like Harbour Town or even Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course.
