World No. 1 Jon Rahm is a heavy favorite with +600 odds at sportsbooks and betting sites, with the 27-year-old Spaniard returning to the site of his first career major victory at the 2021 US Open.

Rahm’s odds are twice as short as Justin Thomas, who has three straight top-five finishes and checks in at second on the board at +1200. Xander Schauffele isn’t far behind at +1400 and reigning Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama rounds out the top four with golf odds of +1800.

Best Bet: Patton Kizzire Top-10 Finish

Kizzire is coming off a T-22 finish at the American Express and played even better than the score suggests. Kizzire led the field in Strokes Gained Approach last week and can definitely stay hot for stretches when the irons are working like that.

The 35-year-old has plenty of distance to get it around here, even if his 300-yard driving average is considered medium length these days. Kizzire plays the par-5s well, which is always important at Torrey, and he racked off five top-10 finishes a year ago thanks in part to a 68.95 final-round scoring average – fifth best on Tour last season.

Kizzire has missed the cut in his last two starts here and didn’t play the 2021 US Open, but he finished T-8 at the 2016 Farmers Open.

We like the odds at BetMGM on Kizzire for a top-10 finish at +900.

Farmers Open Betting Tips

There’s a lot to consider this week. We’re looking at the strongest field of the year to date, multiple courses and one of the longest setups on Tour. Players will have a go at both the North and South courses in Rounds 1-2 and the North course is the far easier track. Weather can play a factor with such discrepancy, so tee times and conditions are important.

We’ve seen shorter hitters win around here plenty of times, including defending champion Patrick Reed. But we’re more comfortable with the big boppers as the South course is a large ballpark and leaves some very difficult approach shots further back in the fairway.

There’s plenty of course history to consider here as well, but the rough won’t be nearly as penal as it was for last year’s US Open setup. It’s alright to spray it some with the driver as long as you poke it far enough to pull a wedge or short iron on the next one.
