Now that all the hoopla from the Gold Cup and Copa America tournaments has calmed down, MLS bettors welcome back the regulars from international duty for the second half of the season.

We have a full weekend of matches at hand for this upcoming soccer betting weekend, but I am going to slide on over to Sunday to find your MLS best bet to back.

NY Red Bulls vs. NYCFC - Total Over 3 at -105 with 888Sport

It’s a derby! It’s New York, and we have two clubs that have been on the pitch quite a bit lately. The Red Bulls will play their fourth match in 17 days, while NYCFC will be on the field for the fifth time in 16 days.

NYCFC played its U.S Open Cup quarterfinal match on Wednesday against Orlando City, and it could potentially make matters more difficult for this derby encounter with the Red Bulls. NYCFC scored a 96th minute equalizer to tie it at 1-1 and force extra time. It took a shootout for Orlando City to win and reach the semifinals of the tournament.

NYCFC-Red Bulls MLS Betting Pick: Back the Over This Week 1
NYCFC played a U.S. Open Cup match Wednesday to continue a packed set of fixtures.

It wasn’t exactly a cool evening in Florida either and you could see the exhaustion on the faces of both squads after 120-plus minutes of time on the field.

While NYCFC put out so much effort only to lose on Wednesday, the Red Bulls got to relax and wait for Sunday’s rivalry game to come.

This match on Sunday is the last one to complete the weekend of MLS action.

Make no mistake, this is not some big rivalry game like it used to be back in the day. There are so many new faces for both squads that they just see this as another game on the schedule, so don’t let anyone try to convince you that these two hate each other so much. In any event the Red Bulls will surely have no issue running the score on a tired NYCFC team.

The MLS odds line setters have kept this Over 3 Goals at a reasonable price, so we will oblige with a play on the total at -105 with 888Sport.
