While Team USA nurses its collective hangover and basks in the glory of a 19-9 Ryder Cup victory, the grinders and journeymen and rookies are back at it this week as the PGA Tour heads to Jackson, Mississippi for the Sanderson Farms Championship.
European Ryder Cupper Sergio Garcia is the defending champion and back in the field after a long week at Whistling Straits. He’s currently sixth on the golf betting board for the second Tour stop of the 2021-22 season, listed with +2000 odds to repeat at sportsbooks.
Sam Burns is the betting favorite at +1400 at betting sites after a breakout season that included his first Tour win and eight top-10 finishes. Corey Conners, Sungjae Im and Will Zalatoris are next at +1600, while Charley Hoffman joins Garcia at +2000 to round out the top six.
The Ryder Cup is always a biennial highlight, but the field is relatively strong for this week’s return to 72-hole stroke play at Country Club of Jackson.

Sanderson Farms Championship Expert Pick
Tyler McCumber Top-10 Finish
Odds: +1600 at DraftKings ➜
We’ll take a long shot top-10 flyer on our sports betting app because that’s just what you do at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
McCumber is on a tough run of eight missed cuts in his last nine starts, but we think this could be the week he turns things around. He’s had time to work on the game over the past month and has good memories at Country Club of Jackson, where he recorded a T-6 a year ago amid a similar slump.
The game had a lot of flaws for most of last season, but this course plays to his strengths. The driver is his best club and this is a big course, so he’ll have an advantage off the tee. He also looked good on the greens at the Fortinet Championship two weeks ago, with 1.28 Strokes Gained Putting despite the missed cut.
The golf odds are juicy with all the MCs in recent months, but we think McCumber is worth a shot at +1600 for a top-10 finish.

Sanderson Farms Championship Betting Tips
There’s not much to this course, nor does it seem to overly favor one particular style of play. It requires length off the tee and a ton of birdies, yielding winning scores of 18-under-par or lower in six consecutive years.
Accuracy off the tee doesn’t seem to matter as much, so the bomb-and-gouge crowd should be licking their chops this week in Mississippi. Most of the guys in the field have only played one or two tournaments at most over the past five weeks, so we don’t have a ton to go on as far as recent form.
We’re basically relying on three variables this week – driving distance, putting and course history. Find players who smoke it off the tee and can get hot on the greens and you’ll have a great starting point for golf betting at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
