The SEC officially expanded by 2 schools this college football season. But neither newcomer Texas nor Oklahoma tops the list of miles traveled by SEC schools in 2024.
That honor falls to LSU. Mike The Tiger’s team travels 6789.48 miles according to data gathered by bookies.com using Google Earth. Bookies.com tracked the road schedule of each SEC team this season, measuring from the midpoint of each stadium location.
We factored in neutral-site games such as the annual Red River Showdown between Texas and Oklahoma in Dallas. And the World’s Largest Cocktail Party, which takes place before, during, and after the annual Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville.

LSU tops our list in part due to its participation in the Vegas Kickoff Classic at Allegiant Stadium against Southern Cal on Sept. 1. That road trip of 2980.6 miles is the longest in the SEC this upcoming regular season.
Missouri is the other SEC team to top 6,000 miles due to a non-conference game against UMass-Amherst in the Bay State. The Minutemen are ranked 123rd out of 133 Division 1-A teams in the ESPN Football Power Index.

The SEC’s 16-team schedule begins with 15 teams in action on Saturday, August 31. The LSU Tigers-Southern Vegas Kickoff Classic is the next day.

SEC 2024 Team Odds To Win Conference
The Georgia Bulldogs are the consensus college football futures odds favorite to win the SEC Football Championship this season. Georgia won the SEC title in 2022. Alabama beat Georgia to win the conference title last season. Long-time Tide coach Nick Saban retired in the offseason after losing in the national semifinal to eventual champion Michigan.

With the addition of Oklahoma and Texas this season, each SEC team plays eight conference games. Plus each team plays at least one required opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12, or major independent. Each team has two open dates.
2024 the first season in which the SEC plays without divisions since 1991. The top two teams in league standings regardless of geography based on winning percentage play in the 33rd SEC Football Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, December 7.
