The marquee game in Week 8 of the NFL season is on Sunday Night Football, as the Kansas City Chiefs play host to the Green Bay Packers. Each team is 4-1 against the spread in their last five against teams with winning records.

PICK 1: Packers -0.5 First Quarter

Through seven games, the Packers have led 7-0 or 14-0 after one quarter in four of them. Another, they led 7-3. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have been blanked or held to three points in the opening quarter in four of seven games.

With either a hobbled Patrick Mahomes or backup Matt Moore getting his feet wet, look for Aaron Rodgers to get the Pack off to another solid start.

PICK 2: Highest-Scoring Quarter – Second

The second quarter has been a fruitful one for both the Chiefs and Packers. K.C. averages a league-best 12.4 ppg in the second quarter, the Packers aren’t far behind at 9.1 ppg. It’s the highest-scoring 15 minutes for both teams.

It’s also the quarter in which Green Bay has allowed its most points. For the Chiefs it ranks No. 3, but the last three weeks skyrocketed to the top, succumbing 8.7 ppg.

PICK 3: Over 48

These teams have combined to average 55.2 ppg, but are allowing only 41.3. Both defenses are bending-not-breaking – they’ve giving up ample yards – but expect more breaking against these offenses. The Over has hit in five of the last six Packers games and in eight of the last 10 Chiefs home contests.

PICK 4: Packers -3.5

Aaron Rodgers is coming off one of the great performances of his career. The Packers are confident and the Chiefs are banged up. Green Bay is unbeaten on the road, Kansas City has lost back-to-back home games to the Colts and Texans. Mahomes is obviously a big X-factor, but the Packers will be ready regardless.

PICK 5: Halftime/Full Time – Packers/Chiefs

This is a huge hedge bet in case the Packers take the lead but can’t slow down the Chiefs in the second half. Few teams are as solid in the opening 30 minutes as Green Bay. But in the last three weeks, the Packers have allowed 15.7 ppg in the second half.

Kansas City hasn’t allowed a single point in the last three third quarters and just 4.7 ppg in the second half. If the game is close, these are solid odds to back a K.C. comeback.
