UFC Paris: Gane vs. Spivac goes down this Saturday at Accor Arena in Paris, France. The card features 10 fights in total, including a heavyweight headliner between France’s own Ciryl Gane and Moldova’s Serghei Spivac.

UFC Paris Main Event Best Bet

Ciryl Gane (-175) vs. Serghei Spivac (+145)

The main event of UFC Paris sees Ciryl Gane taking on Serghei Spivac for five rounds or less. Gane is a -175 betting apps favorite and I believe he will get the win.

Gane is a 33-year-old France native who is one of the best heavyweights in the UFC. He has an 8-2 record in the Octagon with five of those wins coming by stoppage. 

He has fought the best of the best in the UFC, and he is the former interim heavyweight champ. Gane is a great striker with a strong ground game as well, making him a well-rounded fighter in the UFC’s heaviest weight class. He does have a bit of a hole with his takedown defense, but anytime he can keep his fights standing, he has the chance to hurt his foes and finish them with his huge power.

Spivac is mostly a grappler and the 28-year-old Moldovan has a 7-3 record in the Octagon with five wins coming by stoppage. Spivac has some of the best wrestling skills in the weight class and he is generally able to get his opponents down to the mat and grind them out before finishing them. 

While his ground game is elite, his striking leaves a lot to be desired for, having been knocked out twice in the UFC. If he can get Gane to the ground, then he has a chance to win this fight, but if Gane can keep it on the feet, this very well may be another knockout defeat.

Although Spivac is the superior grappler in this matchup, I think he will have difficulties taking Gane down to the ground. On the feet, Gane is the more effective striker and I like him to get his hand raised here. Give me Gane as a -175 betting favorite and go with him by TKO for a prop.

Other UFC Paris Best Bets

Jacqueline Cavalcanti (-360) vs. Zarah Fairn (+285)

Women’s bantamweights are in action when Jacqueline Cavalcanti faces off against Zarah Fairn. Cavalcanti is a -360 betting favorite, and I like her to get the job done here.

Cavalcanti is only 26 years old and the Portugal native has a 5-1 record in MMA since going pro in 2018. She enters this bout having won her last three fights in a row, including a win in LFA in her last fight, where she captured the promotion’s vacant flyweight title.

 She is a very good striker who has the ability to outpoint her opponents on the feet and even hurt them with her power. She is also super young, so she has the potential to get even better as a pro fighter.

As for Fairn, the 39-year-old French fighter has been in the UFC since 2019, losing all three of her fights inside the Octagon. She is a decent striker on the feet, but she has not had any success in the UFC and she hasn’t won a fight in MMA since 2017. She has been exposed in both the striking and grappling departments in the UFC, and it’s hard to see her having much success. 

She did get a full training camp for this fight, while her opponent Cavalcanti took this bout on short notice, but even with that edge, this still looks like a difficult matchup for her.

Considering Cavalcanti is 13 years younger than Fairn, as well as being a top prospect, I have to go with her to win this fight against an aging fighter who is 0-3 in the Octagon. Look for Cavalcanti to win this fight by outstriking Fairn on the feet and likely win this fight on the cards. Go with Cavalcanti as a -360 favorite to win and take her to win by decision for a prop bet.

Farid Basharat (-310) vs. Kleidison Rodrigues (+250)

The opening bout on the card features Farid Basharat taking on Kleidison Rodrigues at bantamweight. Basharat is a -310 betting favorite, and I like him to win this fight.

Basharat is a perfect 10-0 in MMA and the 26-year-old Afghani is 1-0 in the UFC with a decision win over Da’Mon Blackshear. The brother of fellow UFC fighter Javid Basharat, the younger had had a tremendous start to his fighting career since going pro five years ago. He is a tremendous grappler and in MMA, that’s a big positive. 

He is also a solid striker as well, and he is constantly improving his game. There is a lot to like about Basharat, which is why the odds are high here.

As for Rodrigues, he is moving up to 135 lbs after missing weight twice. The 27-year-old Brazilian is a terrific striker and he is also skilled on the ground. That being said, most of his career took place at 125 lbs, where he usually had a size and strength advantage over his opponents. 

Now at 135 lbs, he will likely struggle with bigger, stronger grapplers such as Basharat, which is why you see him coming in as such a big underdog despite his striking skills.

Basharat should have a huge grappling advantage in this fight, and I see him taking down Rodrigues and grinding him out over the course of three rounds. Go with Basharat to win this fight as a -310 favorite and take him to win this fight by decision if you like prop bets.
