UFC Singapore Main Event Best Bet

Max Holloway (-850) vs. The Korean Zombie (+520)

The headliner of UFC Singapore is a five-round featherweight bout between former champion Max Holloway and long-time UFC veteran The Korean Zombie. Holloway is a massive -850 UFC betting favorite, and I expect him to roll in this fight and make it look easy.

Holloway is the former UFC featherweight champion and he is a sure-fire UFC Hall of Famer the day he retires from the sport. The 31-year-old Hawaiian joined the UFC in 2011 and he has a 20-7 record in the Octagon since then, while consistently fighting the best opposition the UFC matchmakers throw at him.

One of the best strikers in his weight class, Holloway also has an iron chin, having never been knocked out let alone dropped during his UFC career. He says that he still has one more title run left in him, and it all starts with a win over The Korean Zombie.

While The Korean Zombie has had an awesome UFC career, putting together a 7-4 record against mostly elite competition, he appears to be in the decline phase of his career.

The 36-year-old Korean Zombie is coming off of a vicious TKO loss to UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski in his last fight where he absorbed a number of brutal head strikes, leading to a mercy stoppage by the referee for taking so much damage. While The Korean Zombie is a talented fighter, it appears that he has finally reached the downside of his career.

Holloway is the superior MMA fighter and the far more effective striker. He’s also much more durable. Look for Holloway to tee off on The Korean Zombie throughout the 25 scheduled minutes of this bout and eventually hurt him badly with strikes and finish this fight via TKO. Take Holloway as a -850 favorite and go with him to win this fight by TKO for a prop bet.

Other UFC Singapore Best Bets

Giga Chikadze (-245) vs. Alex Caceres (+200)

In featherweight action, we have Giga Chikadze facing off against Alex Caceres. Chikadze is a -245 betting favorite and I believe he will win this fight.

Chikadze is 34 years old and he has a 7-1 record in the UFC with three of those wins coming by way of knockout. A powerful striker with incredible technique, Chikadze has proven to be one of the most dangerous standup fighters in the UFC featherweight division.

Although he did lose his last fight to Calvin Kattar, he was unbeaten prior to that loss. Given he has taken over 18 months off since that last fight, fans should expect to see an improved Chikadze in his return to the Octagon. If he wants to make another run for the title, then he has to beat Caceres here.

Of course, Caceres isn’t going to go down without a fight. A UFC veteran dating back to 2011, the 35-year-old Caceres has an all-time record of 16-11, 1 NC in the Octagon. Although he was inconsistent for the first number of years of his UFC career, he has really improved over the last few years, having won seven of his last eight bouts overall. He is a terrific striker and his ground game has also gotten better over the years.

That being said, he is still a very beatable fighter based on his record, and he has historically struggled against superior strikers in the past, too.

This should be an exciting fight between two men who prefer to stand and trade on their feet. I view Chikadze as the more effective and more technical striker and I see him outlanding Caceres over the course of 15 minutes. Take Chikadze at -245 and take him by decision.

Erin Blanchfield (-148) vs. Taila Santos (+124)

Also on the card is a very important women’s flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and Taila Santos. Blanchfield is a -148 betting favorite, and I like her to get her hand raised.

Only 24 years of age, Blanchfield is one of the best young fighters in the UFC right now. She is 5-0 since joining the world’s leading MMA promotion, with her last three wins coming by submission.

Blanchfield is one of the best grapplers in the women’s weight classes and she is constantly improving her striking attack, making her a well-rounded and dangerous fighter. She is a very impressive talent and she has all of the makings of a future UFC world champion. If Blanchfield gets past Santos in this fight, she can likely expect to fight for the 125 lbs title next.

As for Santos, she is also one of the best fighters in her weight class. The 30-year-old Brazilian is 4-2 overall in the UFC and in her last fight, she nearly pulled off a gigantic upset over former UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. Although Santos lost a split decision in that fight, she proved she is one of the best fighters in her weight class by going toe-to-toe with Shevchenko for 25 minutes.

That being said, she has not fought in over a year since then, and now she is taking on Blanchfield in what could prove to be a very difficult stylistic matchup.

Santos is an excellent fighter, but Blanchfield is a truly special talent who will likely be a UFC champion in the next 12 months. As good as Santos is, I don’t see her stopping Blanchfield’s takedowns, which I think she will use to control this fight. Give me Blanchfield as a -148 favorite and I like her to win this fight by decision for a prop bet just because of how tough Santos is.
