UFC Vegas 60 Main Event Best Bet

Cory Sandhagen (-190) vs. Song Yadong (+160)

The headliner of UFC Vegas 60 is a five-round bantamweight bout between Sandhagen and Yadong. This should be an amazing fight for the fans to watch, one that I believe Sandhagen will ultimately win as a -190 favorite on UFC betting sites.

Sandhagen is one of the best bantamweights in the world. The 30-year-old Colorado native joined the UFC in 2018 and he’s 7-3 overall in the promotion, with notable wins over the likes of Frankie Edgar, Marlon Moraes, and Raphael Assuncao. He is coming off two losses, but those defeats came against Petr Yan and TJ Dillashaw, who are two of the top three ranked fighters in the weight class.

UFC Vegas 60 Odds, Picks & Predictions For Sandhagen vs Yadong 1

Sandhagen is exciting, talented, and dynamic, with a diverse striking game to go along with slick submissions, incredible cardio, and toughness. He has also been fighting the best of the best at 135lbs, and all that experience should help him out here.

Yadong is also an excellent fighter in his own right. Just 24 years old, the China native is 8-1-1 in 10 Octagon appearances, with notable wins over Marlon Vera, Casey Kenney, and the aforementioned Moraes. Yadong is a very talented striker who is coming off back-to-back knockout wins, and he has submission skills to boot. Overall, he has looked great in the UFC, but I do question the level of competition when compared to Sandhagen. In a fight like this between two talented fighters, those little edges make the biggest difference.

While I’m expecting a competitive bout, I believe Sandhagen will win. Give me Sandhagen as a -190 favorite on betting sites, and I believe he ends up getting his hand raised by winning a decision.

Other UFC Vegas 60 Best Bets

Andre Fili (-120) vs. Bill Algeo (+100)

Also on the main card is a featherweight bout between Andrei Fili and Bill Algeo. Despite Algeo being the +100 underdog on betting apps, I believe he can get his hand raised and win this fight.

Fili has been a longtime staple of the UFC featherweight division, but he appears to be slowing down at age 32. The Sacramento resident has been in the UFC since 2013 and his overall record in the Octagon is 9-8, 1 NC. He is currently winless over his last three fights dating back to June 2020, so it’s been over two years since he won a fight in the Octagon.

To be fair to Fili, he’s always fought a high level of competition inside the Octagon. However, he was viciously knocked out in his last fight against Joanderson Brito as a big favorite, and it was that performance that makes me feel like we could finally be seeing the decline of “Touchy” Fili.

Algeo, on the other hand, seems to be getting better and better. It’s strange to think that Algeo is 33, so he’s actually one year older than Fili, but he appears to be the fresher fighter. That’s likely since he is a late bloomer who didn’t join the UFC until 2020.

In the UFC, Algeo holds a 3-2 record, but he’s won his last two fights, including a dominant TKO win over Herbert Burns in his last outing. He also holds a win over the aforementioned Brito, who is a common opponent for both men. Overall, Algeo is just a very solid, well-rounded fighter who excels in his conditioning.

Fili has been a solid fighter for a long time, but I believe Algeo is the better fighter at this point in time. In what should be a competitive fight, I’m leaning towards Algeo to win as a +100 underdog, and I believe he will likely be able to edge out the decision win over Fili.

Pat Sabatini (-180) vs. Damon Jackson (+155)

In featherweight action, we have an intriguing battle between grappling-based fighters Pat Sabatini and Damon Jackson. Sabatini is a -180 favorite, and I believe he will earn his fifth consecutive victory in the Octagon in this matchup.

Since joining the UFC last year, Sabatini is already 4-0 with victories over TJ Laramie, Tucker Lutz, Jamall Emmers, and Tristan Connelly. The 31-year-old Bristol, Pennsylvania native is a very well-rounded fighter who has an excellent ground game and improved striking. He has looked incredible in the UFC so far in his first four appearances, and the best thing is, he looks better every time we see him. Although Sabatini is not currently ranked in the top 15 at 145lbs, it won’t be long until he is, and a win over Jackson would certainly help his case.

Jackson is also a very good fighter who has looked good lately. The 34-year-old Oklahoma native, who now trains out of Dallas, is currently riding a three-fight win streak and is 4-1 overall since rejoining the UFC in 2020. Previously, he fought in the UFC from 2014 to 2016 and had a 0-1-1, 1 NC record, so overall he is 4-2-1, 1 NC in the Octagon.

Jackson has an exceptional ground game and 15 of his 21 career wins have come by tap-out. Here’s the thing, though: Will his ground game work against a fighter with just as good of a grappling game as Sabatini? Likely not, meaning this could be more of a striking battle, and Sabatini is better there.

I’m a big fan of both fighters, but I believe this matchup favors Sabatini since he’s the more well-rounded mixed martial artist. Look for a competitive fight between two tough guys, but in the end, I expect Sabatini to edge out a decision and come away with the win as a -180 favorite.
