The 142nd FA Cup final will take place at Wembley on Saturday, 3 June and for the first time ever, it will be an all-Manchester affair. Six-time winners City take on their neighbors United who are looking to lift the trophy for a 13th time.

Both clubs have won the cup in recent seasons with United beating Crystal Palace 2-1 after extra-time at the end of the 2015/16 season while City equaled the biggest win in an FA Cup final when they demolished Watford 6-0 in 2019.

City are looking to win the Treble, but standing in their way are United, the only British side to have won the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup all in the same season. A win for United would see them complete a domestic cup double.

This game provides UK betting sites with one of their busiest days on the sporting calendar. Expect plenty of free bet offers to be made available by the leading betting sites. Both teams have so much to play for at Wembley, but what can we expect from the decider?

Bookies.com have analyzed all 22 cup finals played this century to see what trends have emerged. We've also studied recent derbies between the two Manchester clubs to see what their recent encounters can tell us about their first ever meeting in a major final at Wembley.

Which Goalkeeper Will Pep Chose?

The Manchester City side more or less picks itself, but manager Pep Guardiola has one major decision to make. Does he stick with Stefan Ortega Moreno, who has been City's goalkeeper throughout this cup run, or does he decide to make a change and play first choice goalkeeper Ederson? Ordinarily, Guardiola would stick with the 30-year-old Ortega Moreno, but with a Treble at stake, there is no room for sentiment when it comes to team selection.

It would be very harsh if Ortega Moreno didn't get to start the final, especially as he has yet to concede a goal in 395 minutes of FA Cup action this season. He was replaced by Ederson after 45 minutes of City's 3-0 fifth round win at Championship club Bristol City.

As for United, question marks have been raised by the performances of their goalkeeper David de Gea, especially in big games. He was to blame for two of the three goals United conceded in their Europa League quarter-final, second leg at Sevilla, which ended the Old Trafford club's hopes of reaching that particular final. On his day, de Gea is a great goalkeeper, but those days are becoming few and far between, even though he did end the season with the Premier League's Golden Glove award for most clean sheets.

The Spanish goalkeeper was beaten six times when City and United met for the first time this season, when hat-tricks from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden helped the Premier League champions to a 6-3 win at the Etihad. If United are to lift the FA Cup for a 13th time, then de Gea will have to be at his very best at Wembley.

Will United Leave It Late, Again?

Manchester United have scored 12 goals to reach the final. Erik ten Hag's side started on their road to Wembley with a 3-1 win over Everton at Old Trafford. A fourth minute goal from Antony got the Red Devils on their way before a Conor Coady own goal and a last-minute penalty from Marcus Rashford sealed their victory.

Since Antony's early goal against the Toffees, the last 11 FA Cup goals United have scored, have all come in the second half. And seven of those have been scored in the final 30 minutes, which fits in nicely with a trend that has developed in the previous 22 FA Cup finals. A total of 50 goals have been scored in normal time, and 54% of those have been scored in the final 30 minutes of play.

There's an argument to say United have received a lot of help in reaching this season's FA Cup final. Their first four ties were all played at Old Trafford and all finished in 3-1 wins. Two of their 12 goals scored have been own goals, two have been penalties and their opponents have received three red cards. Solly March's missed penalty helped United win their shootout against Brighton to book their place in the final.

City's passage to Wembley has been much more straightforward. They have won all five of their ties without conceding a goal and four of their five wins have been by three or more goals. Their goals have been more evenly distributed with seven scored before half-time and 10 coming after the interval.

Both sides have had seven different goalscorers in the competition so far. Riyad Mahrez leads the way for City with five goals, thanks to a semi-final hat-trick against Championship side Sheffield United, while Bruno Fernandes and Brazilian duo Casemiro and Fred have all score twice for the Red Devils.

Our FA Cup Final Tips

This will be the ninth FA Cup meeting between the two sides and United hold a 5-3 lead in the series. But this is the first meeting in the competition since City's rise to the top of the English game. United will be doing all they can to make sure their bitter rivals City don't win the Treble. Beating the league champions at Wembley will take care of that.

With that sub-plot, this could be one of the more entertaining finals in recent years. The last three league encounters have produced 17 goals. Both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals has been a winning bet in each of those three derbies.

Erling Haaland missed a glorious chance to score on his first visit to Wembley with City. It came in the Community Shield, the traditional curtain-raiser to the new season, when the league champions and the FA Cup champions go head-to-head. The Norwegian hit the crossbar from six yards out as City fell to a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool. Haaland didn't let that miss affect him in what has been a record-breaking season for him in terms of goals scored. For the season he has had, it would be fitting if he scored at the home of football.

The second half has been the highest scoring half in eight of the last 13 FA Cup finals, and there is a very good chance that trend will continue this year. In both Premier League fixtures this season, the second half has been the highest scoring half.

With so much at stake for both sides, the first half could be a cagey affair, before adjustments and substitutions are made in the second period which should lead to more goals. Incidentally, in the two league meetings this season, four goals have been scored in the 76th minute or later, all for United.
