Manchester City have made a typically strong start to the season, collecting 23 points from their first nine Premier League matches played. A 6-3 victory over an in-form Manchester United side after the international break highlighted their amazing attacking strength and the English champions are now heavy favourites to land the title with many of the leading betting sites.

Some bettors are looking to back Pep Guardiola’s side to remain unbeaten in the top flight for the duration of the 2022/23 campaign. At the time of writing, the Cityzens have won seven and drawn two of their encounters, with a 3-3 draw at Newcastle seeing the north-west outfit come storming back after trailing by two goals.

A growing number of betting sites and sports betting apps are now providing special bets about whether City will go unbeaten and become the second “Invincibles” team in the Premier League era, after Arsenal went unbeaten throughout their 2003/04 season under Arsene Wenger. City striker Erling Haaland’s incredible strike rate means that punters are also interested in betting on the Norwegian to break all manner of scoring records.

What Are the Odds that Man City Go Unbeaten This Season?

Customers can get odds of 7/1 for Manchester City to finish the current Premier League season without a single defeat to their name. Last season, City won their fourth title in the last five seasons thanks to losing just three of their 38 games, and two of them came at the Etihad Stadium.

There have already been involved in a couple of scares this season, with City 3-1 down to Newcastle at St James’ Park before the champions took a point in a 3-3 draw. City also trailed Crystal Palace by two goals at home before a second-half comeback saw them claim a 4-2 victory.

As City continue to go unbeaten, it might be that the players and manager regard this unblemished record as a badge of honour, and so they should. However, there are some tricky fixtures on the horizon starting with a trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

Will Manchester City Avoid Defeat at Anfield on Sunday?

October is a ridiculously busy month for those Premier League sides who are also competing in Europe, and Manchester City have nine games this month. A Champions League double header against Copenhagen sandwiched their home clash against Southampton before the Cityzens prepare for a tricky trip to Anfield on Sunday.

As things currently stand, City are going to be hot favourites to claim victory against Liverpool despite being the away side. City's form has been vastly superior since the season began, and they’ve notched 33 goals in just nine league matches played. Erling Haaland’s strike rate has been phenomenal so far, scoring 15 of his side's Premier League goals.

Should Manchester City leave Anfield unbeaten, then one would argue that there aren’t too many assignments that will be harder. Perhaps a trip to Stamford Bridge in the New Year could cause a few problems. That game comes soon after the league returns from the break for the World Cup, where many of City's players will be involved. City also have to travel to Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Will an Unbeaten City Season Also Feature a 40-Goal Season for Haaland?

Along with Manchester City betting specials such as the team to go unbeaten, it’s also possible to place wagers on the total goals Haaland is going to reach in his first season in the Premier League. The 22-year-old has scored 15 goals in nine games so far, bagging three hat-tricks, and Bournemouth are the only team to have stopped him scoring so far.

At his current rate, Haaland is on course to score 63 goals for City in the English top flight. It’s clearly unrealistic for the Norwegian to amass that sort of total, and it’s likely that he will be rested for certain fixtures as we near the business end of the Champions League next spring.

However, a 40-goal tally is hugely realistic for a player already trading as a strong favourite to be the league's top scorer. Odds of 12/1 are currently available that Manchester City stay unbeaten and their star striker manages to reach the 40-goal mark.

Manchester City Could Get Close to 100-Point Total This Season

The Premier League season lasts 38 games, which means there are a total of 114 points to be won. City have already drawn a couple of games so that means that they can hit a maximum of 110 points.

The reigning title holders can afford to drop a few more points and still be centurions as far as a points total is concerned. They've done it before when they finished the 2017/18 season as champions with 100 points. The following season, they won the league with 98 points.

Can Haaland Reach a Half-Century of Premier League Goals?

Many expected Erling Haaland to hit the ground running after joining City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. The striker isn’t just living up to the hype; he is exceeding all expectations when setting about his task of firing the English champions to glory on a domestic and continental front.

City have yet to win the Champions League, but with Haaland in their squad, they are more than capable of winning multiple trophies including Europe's elite club competition.

As mentioned, Haaland will score over 60 goals if he continues at his current goal rate. Odds of 25/1 are available for the forward to hit a half century by the time the curtain falls on the current campaign. Don't forget, Haaland will not feature at the World Cup in Qatar as Norway failed to qualify, so he will have a month off to freshen up and continue his scoring exploits.
