Cedric Itten’s second-half equaliser against Motherwell at Fir Park last Sunday ensured Rangers remain unbeaten in Scottish Premiership.

Steven Gerrard’s side are doing their best impersonation of his old club Liverpool who blew everyone out of sight last season in winning their first English league title in 30 years by a margin of 18 points.

Liverpool legend Gerrard is looking to create history of his own though as Rangers close in on their first top tier title since 2010/11 to mark the end of a torturous decade for the Gers.

Another tame Celtic draw in midweek means Rangers now hold a 20-point lead and even though the Bhoys still have two games in hand, the deficit and form guide is enough for bookies to give Gerrard’s men odds of 1/100 about winning the league.

In other words, it’s pretty much assured, so Rangers can already set their sights on other targets such as matching Celtic’s unbeaten league campaign of 2016-17. The odds on Rangers being ‘invincible’ are 3/1 and that seems reasonable given the form they’re in.

Rangers’ Invincible Quest

That little wobble at Motherwell will soon be forgotten about if they can get back to winning ways against Ross County on Saturday, and the odds suggest they’ll stay unbeaten at the very least with the visitors quoted as long as 25/1 for a win in the match result betting.

But how much emphasis will Gerrard place on staying unbeaten? Former Rangers striker Tore Andre Flo believes an ‘invincible’ season is very possible but claims the manager won’t be entertaining the notion until the title is officially secured.

“I think it’s possible but I guess winning the league is the main priority and there’s still quite a bit to go to get there mathematically, but yes on current form I definitely think it’s possible,” he told Bookies.co.uk.

“If they can get to the half way stage unbeaten, then I can’t see why they can’t go all the way.

“It looks very, very good at the moment. It was always going to be a really important season to try and stop Celtic winning the 10-in-a-row and it looks like that’s going to be the case which is really good.

“They’ve done brilliantly to get back on their feet and they’re competing at a good level across multiple competitions, but winning the league will be the pinnacle and will show how far they’ve come under Gerrard and playing brilliant football too.”

Fighting On Three Fronts

Although they’re already out of the Scottish League Cup, Rangers are 6/4 favourites to land the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2008/09, and stop Celtic claiming a fifth in a row in the process.

The more ambitious of Rangers supporters will also have their eye on the Europa League though. The Ibrox outfit have been hugely impressive in Europe this season and will fancy their chances in a finely poised tie with Belgian side Antwerp next month.

Paddy Power have Rangers priced up at 35/1 to do a Scottish Premiership and Europa League double and Flo believes it’s not all that fanciful to predict his old side pulling it off.

“I think they can go very far,” he said of their European pedigree. “On a good day they can compete with pretty much any team in the competition so I think there is the possibility to go all the way to the final.

“This team is good enough and with the way they play and the form that they’re in they can beat any team right now.”

Transfer Speculation

If Rangers are to go far in Europe, they’ll need all of their top players to hit the high notes on the big stage.

One such player who has underwhelmed this season is Alfredo Morelos, although his brace against Aberdeen earlier this month prompted Gerrard to claim he’s “back with a bang”.

According to The Daily Record, the volatile Colombian has been ear-marked by the club board for a big money move this summer as Rangers still face financial issues despite their on-field success this term.

A return of just six league goals and two assists in 19 appearances in the Scottish Premiership so far this season won’t have Premier League clubs tripping over each other to bid for him, but Flo reckons he could do a job in England’s top tier should one of the lower sides take a punt on him.

He said: “I think he’s done quite well for Rangers – he’s proven that he’s a good player and I can’t see why he couldn’t replicate that in the Premier League as well.

“For the moment I think he’s better off at Rangers but the English league is a step up but if he has a chance to do that I think he can handle it.”

For now though, Gerrard will be looking to retain as much of his squad as possible as Rangers – remarkably – look good enough to claim three major trophies this season.
