The third tennis Grand Slam of the season is around the corner, and the green grass of the All England Club will soon be adorning your TVs. The best men’s and women’s players in the world will travel to SW19 for a slightly different Wimbledon to usual.

The organisers of Wimbledon decided to ban Russian and Belarussian athletes from competing this year. As a result, the tournament has been stripped of its ranking points, which has led to one or two absences we wouldn’t have otherwise seen.

That being said, there are still going to be almost all of the world’s best stars competing for the prestigious trophy, even if some may have called it a glorified exhibition trophy this season. Action in the main draw on both the men’s and women’s sides gets underway on Monday, June 27, so now is the right time to take advantage of the numerous betting offers and free bets that operators will be running up to the start of the tournament.

2022 Wimbledon Picks

Men's pick to win Matteo Berrettini 6/1
Women's pick to win Ons Jabeur 16/1

The outright market on the men’s side is dominated by one man. Novak Djokovic has won the tournament three times out of the last four iterations, and he is being well backed to triumph once again. It seems people aren’t unduly being put off by the fact he’s only won one tournament out of the six he’s played in this year. It’s a far cry from the five wins in 11 tournaments last year, including the year’s first three Grand Slams.

The odds, though, reflect a lack of alternative picks with some players not fit enough to compete and others perhaps not having the track record you might want to see on grass. Last year’s finalist, Matteo Berrettini defended his Queen’s Club title again this year and looks a good price to go one better this time around given Djokovic’s struggles.

The women’s market is equally dominated by one player, 21-year-old world number 1 Iga Swiatek. The Polish superstar regained the French Open title this year at a canter, dropping just one set in the process. However, her best performance of reaching the fourth round in two Wimbledon appearances should give you pause. Beaten French Open finalist, Coco Gauff was the darling of Wimbledon in 2019 as she reached the fourth round at just 15 years old. Fresh from her first Grand Slam final, perhaps she can go one further at Wimbledon.

Our best bet for the tournament, however, is Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian is fresh from winning the German Open, where she beat Gauff in straight sets in the semi-final. Having reached the quarter-final last year, we think her current price with sports betting sites is great value for her to break her Grand Slam duck.

2022 Wimbledon Betting Odds

Outright betting can be a favorite of people visiting tennis betting sites because they can place these wagers weeks or even months before the biggest events take place. While in-play betting can be just as fun when playing along with an exciting match, an outright shot gives you the chance to sit back and relax a little more. Here are some of the favorites for the coming tournament.

2022 Men’s Wimbledon Betting Odds

Since 2003, four men have combined to win every tournament. Djokovic has won six Wimbledon titles including the last four. Andy Murray is competing with an artificial hip this year after a run of injuries has seen him not get past the third round of the tournament since 2017, Rafael Nadal isn’t sure he’s fit enough to compete and Roger Federer doesn’t have much of a timetable to return from a knee injury at the age of 40. Maybe we’ll see a new winner this year.

  • Novak Djokovic (5/6) - World number 3 doesn’t sound right when describing Djokovic, but it encapsulates how his season has gone to date. He usually finds a way at Wimbledon but hasn’t played a tournament since losing in the quarters of the French Open to Nadal.
  • Matteo Berrettini (6/1) - Berrettini became the first Italian male to reach the final of a Grand Slam since 1976 when losing in four sets to Djokovic in 2021. He has retained his Queen’s title in preparation.
  • Rafael Nadal (15/2) - Twice winner of Wimbledon but hasn’t got past the semi-finals since 2011 and isn’t sure he will be fit enough to compete yet.
  • Carlos Alcaraz (9/1) - World number 7 has only played six professional matches on grass in his career and was knocked out in the second round of the tournament last season.
  • Hubert Hurkacz (16/1) - Semi-finalist last year and fresh off winning the grass-court Halle Open, he could be of interest to some online sports betting fans.

2022 Women’s Wimbledon Betting Odds

We have a short-priced favorite who has never got past the fourth round at Wimbledon, so this could be the market to find the most value in.

  • Iga Swiatek (6/4) - The 21-year-old world number 1 hasn’t played since beating Gauff in the final of the French Open for her second Grand Slam title. Reached the fourth round last year.
  • Coco Gauff (21/2) - Reached the fourth round as a 15-year-old in 2019 and was a beaten finalist at Roland Garros before a run to the semi-final of the German Open last week.
  • Ons Jabeur (16/1) - Has never gone past the quarter-finals of any Grand Slam, but one of those quarters trips was last year at Wimbledon and comes into the tournament from winning the German Open.
  • Simona Halep (17/1) - Winner of Wimbledon last time she competed at SW19 in 2019. Hasn’t got beyond the semi-finals of any Grand Slam since that win.
  • Serena Williams (18/1) - Possibly the greatest player of all time, the 40-year-old would be the romantics’ choice for the title. She’s won it seven times in her career but hasn’t won any Grand Slam since the 2017 Australian Open.

In-Play Wimbledon Betting Markets

Tennis tournaments provide a huge number of live and in-play betting opportunities. Most of the best sports betting apps show live streaming coverage of tennis matches, so you can watch along and bet at the same time. Here are some of the examples of the types of markets available.

  • Next/Current Game Winner - servers will often be short prices to win the next game, and with the outcomes typically decided within a few minutes, this is a particularly popular market.
  • Set Handicap - these will usually be played when there is an overwhelming favorite playing an underdog. You could back an outsider to stay within 1.5 sets of the favorite at +1.5 or back the favorite minus sets.
  • Set Betting - this is among the most simple markets where you bet on the score in sets. In a men’s Grand Slam match the options will be 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 and a women’s contest will be 2-0 or 2-1.
  • Set Correct Score - this might sound like the market above, but this is about betting on the current set’s correct score in games or the next set’s correct score.
  • Total games - this is an over/under market where the best tennis betting sites will provide a baseline number for the number of games in a match.

If you’ve got your finger on the button, points betting is also available at almost all sports betting sites. The odds change on these very quickly and sometimes wildly so always double check you’re betting on the particular market you want to be.

Wimbledon Betting Offers

In the days leading up to Wimbledon, some of the best sports betting apps will have numerous betting offers for new and existing customers to take advantage of. This is your chance to shop around all of the different operators and potentially sign up to multiple sites.

If you do, you could enjoy deposit match bonus offers where a betting site would credit you with bonus funds depending on how much you deposit. Free bets  are typically the easiest bet type to find for existing customers, while you should also be on the lookout for free bet no deposit offers.

Previous Winners of Wimbledon

The men’s tournament at Wimbledon has been dominated by four men since 2003. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray have combined to win every tournament since that year, with Federer and Djokovic winning 14 between them. With fitness issues and age catching up to the quartet this could be the year where a new name is finally engraved on the trophy.

No one has won more singles men’s titles than Federer’s eight, but Pete Sampras and William Renshaw from the amateur era are just one behind the all-time great.

Martina Navratilova leads the way in the women’s tournament with nine wins to her name, followed by Helen Wills Moody with eight and the trio of Dorothea Lambert Chambers, Steffi Graf and Williams one further adrift. The last four tournaments have seen four first-time winners, but will 2022 follow suit or can Williams get one closer to catching Navratilova’s record? We can guarantee we won't see a repeat of last year's winner, as Ashleigh Barty has since retired from professional tennis at the age of 25.

Where Can I Watch Wimbledon?

While broadcasters around the globe will be showing wall to wall coverage of the tournament, the easiest way for you to watch it will be via tennis betting apps that have live streaming services. Typically you will need to have placed a bet or have a funded account to watch, but once you do that you can see all the action wherever you are.

If you are visiting USA sports betting sites it is unlikely you will be able to stream coverage of Wimbledon, but the action will be broadcast on ESPN and the Tennis Channel.
