The Fiesta Bowl in Arizona is the first bowl game to have a college football betting and fantasy gaming partnership in place.

The annual bowl game struck a deal with Caesars Entertainment to partner on events that the game’s organizers put together each year in the Valley, all of which will take effect after Arizona sports betting begins on Sept. 9.

The 2022 Fiesta Bowl is scheduled for Jan. 1 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, which is just west of Phoenix. Iowa State won the 2021 Fiesta Bowl, 34-17, over Oregon. It was the 50th Fiesta Bowl.

Sports wagering on the 2022 game should be high at sportsbooks and betting sites. It is one of college football's top bowl games on betting apps, too.

What The Deal Means

The gaming operator will host fan lounges at the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and Guaranteed Rate Bowl, in addition to becoming the title partner of the Fiesta Bowl’s pregame parties and kickoff luncheon.

“This is a new frontier in the college football space, and the Fiesta Bowl is again out in front with this fan-focused partnership,” Fiesta Bowl Chief Marketing Officer Jose Moreno said in a news release. “There was significant interest in the marketplace to partner with the Fiesta Bowl; where Caesars stood out was with its similar community mindset and a creativity toward setting a new standard.”

“We are teaming with an industry leader who is dedicated to working with us to elevate our offerings for college football and all sports fans across Arizona.”

The Fiesta Bowl partnership is the second in the state for Caesars, which previously announced plans for a partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks that will result in the construction of a sportsbook at downtown’s Chase Field. It could result in increased MLB betting.

The multi-year partnership between Caesars Entertainment and the Fiesta Bowl will bring legal sports betting and daily fantasy sports to college and professional sports fans in the Grand Canyon State, while also bolstering responsible gaming education, Chief Development Officer at Caesars Digital Dan Shapiro said.

“We’re thrilled to work with the Fiesta Bowl Organization on this landmark partnership to bring college football fans closer to the game and build awareness around the importance of responsible gaming practices,” Shapiro said in the release.

“These fans are unrivaled in their passion, and we look forward to offering Caesars Sportsbook to them this fall. Our offering provides a leading user experience where every wager gives players more through our award-winning Caesars Rewards.”

Caesars Entertainment's deal with the Fiesta Bowl is the second between a bowl game and a gaming operator in Arizona.

Barstool Sports previously announced a naming rights and broadcast sponsorship deal with Tucson’s Arizona Bowl, which pits teams from the Mid-American Conference and the Mountain West Conference on New Year’s Eve.

“Today is one small step for man…Yes I am proud to announce that Barstool Sports is the new sponsor of the Arizona Bowl not only for this year, but for the foreseeable future,” Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, said on an Instagram post and website announcement on July 27. “While obviously sponsoring a bowl game is a big deal in itself, we aren’t simply slapping our name on this and running away.

”We also have exclusive broadcasting rights meaning the game will air only on Barstool Sports channels on New Year’s Eve with Barstool personalities fully immersed in the broadcast. It is a true partnership with the Arizona Bowl, the MAC, and the Mountain West Conference.”
