The Georgia Bulldogs continue to entrench themselves as one of the elite teams in college football, dominating previously unbeaten Arkansas last weekend and easily covering a two-touchdown spread at home. Now can they do the same this Saturday against what looks like another formidable opponent - this time on the road?

That’s the challenge this week at Auburn, which won its own big game last Saturday by overcoming a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to win at LSU and cover as 3-point underdogs. Georgia has won four straight and seven of eight in the SEC’s oldest rivalry, and this marquee matchup will certainly generate lots of college football betting interest.

Odds are current as of publication. Betting sites may adjust odds as we get closer to kickoff.

Georgia vs Auburn Key Matchups

Bo Nix vs. Georgia’s front seven: Here’s your ballgame - can Auburn’s quarterback handle the pressure that’s surely coming from the nation’s best defense? Nix was solid late last week against LSU, throwing one TD and rushing for another, but he’s also one week removed from nearly losing his job.

James Cook and Zamir White vs. Auburn’s run defense: Behind its standout tailbacks Cook and White, the Bulldogs rushed on 56 of 67 offensive plays against Arkansas, grinding out 273 yards. They’ll try to do so again against the Tigers’ top-10 rush defense.

Georgia QBs vs. Auburn’s secondary: With regular starter J.T. Daniels battling a back sprain, who’ll start at quarterback for Georgia remains an unknown. But whether it’s Daniels or Stetson Bennett, they should have opportunities downfield against an Auburn secondary that ranks 55th nationally against the pass.

5 Key Georgia vs Auburn Stats

8: Consecutive quarters in which the Georgia defense has not allowed a point, thanks to back-to-back shutouts of Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

14: Number of points the Georgia defense has scored this season (two interceptions returned for touchdowns and one safety), just three fewer than it’s allowed.

9: Average tackles for loss per game recorded by Auburn, ranking the Tigers second nationally.

14-6: Georgia’s record against the spread as a road favorite under head coach Kirby Smart, who was hired prior to the 2016 season.

5-2: Auburn’s record as a home underdog over that same span.

Georgia vs Auburn Weather Forecast

Forecasts early in the week call for a warm Saturday in Auburn, Ala., with temperatures in the mid-80s at kickoff. But low humidity and little chance of rain should make for a comfortable afternoon, and those making college football picks on this game should have no concerns about the weather.

Georgia vs Auburn Moneyline

Even on the road, Georgia is a -900 moneyline favorite, according to sportsbooks, with Auburn a +570 home underdog. It’s very hard to argue with the Bulldogs given how they’ve defensively dominated everyone this season, and always managed enough offense to win.

One day that formula might be challenged, but it’s going to take an opposing offense more potent and consistent than Auburn’s to do it. Expect Georgia to win outright, but given the lack of any value in these college football odds, give the moneyline a pass - unless you bleed orange and have a dog named War Eagle.

Georgia vs Auburn Point Spread

The Bulldogs are 14.5-point spread favorites, according to betting sites. This will be Georgia’s first real road test - Clemson was at a neutral site, and Vanderbilt doesn’t count - and Jordan-Hare Stadium is as loud and raucous as any in the SEC.

But defense travels well, or so the saying goes, and this is still the Jekyll-and-Hyde Auburn squad that struggled at home against Georgia State. Expect that Georgia defense to finally give up some points, but also control possession and allow the Bulldogs to win comfortably enough to cover the spread. You can get Georgia -14.5 (-110) at BetMGM.

Georgia vs Auburn Totals

The total is 45.5, according to betting apps. Georgia’s defense is the real deal, allowing just 4.6 points per game. Auburn’s is very, very good, especially when it comes to pressuring the opposing quarterback and generating turnovers, and is allowing only 16 points per game.

Auburn will struggle to score against that Georgia defense, and the Bulldogs will work to establish the run. Expect a grinding, low-scoring affair on the Plains - and if there was ever a matchup that begged for the under, it’s this one. You can get Under 45.5 (-115) at FanDuel.
