Two-time All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman is a free agent for the first time in his MLB career, and the slugger is expected to command a massive deal on the open market. A two-time World Series winner, Bregman has played his entire nine-year career thus far with the Houston Astros before finally hitting free agency at age 30.

There will be several teams vying for his services, and Bookies.com veteran MLB odds maker Adam Thompson has put together hypothetical betting odds for what MLB team will sign him.

Top Contenders For Alex Bregman In Free Agency 2025

As Alex Bregman enters free agency, here’s a look at the leading teams vying for the All-Star’s signature

Houston Astros  (+375)

The Astros have been Bregman’s home for the past nine seasons, and he has seen plenty of success in Houston, winning two World Series championships. While Bregman will see what kind of money is waiting out there for him in free agency, don’t be surprised if he goes home.

New York Yankees (+400)

The Yankees lost in the World Series to the LA Dodgers, and to get back to the big show, they will need to add some more bats to their lineup. Adding Bregman would be a great start to the Yankees’ offseason, one where they will also look to bring back Juan Soto on a monster deal.

Seattle Mariners (+425)

The Mariners have always been starved for offense, so signing a big bat like Bregman would bring some much-needed firepower to the M’s lineup and help get them back into the playoffs after missing out by one game.

Detroit Tigers (+475)

The Tigers made a surprising playoff run this season but came up short. They need offense to get over the hump, and Bregman would be a natural fit in the middle of the Tigers’ lineup. The Tigers have money to spend and Bregman would be a terrific addition to this young team.

Toronto Blue Jays (+750)

The Blue Jays missed the playoffs and GM Ross Atkins is on the hot seat. Signing a big name like Bregman would help the Blue Jays get back to the postseason, and potentially help Atkins save his job if Bregman helps the squad get back into the playoffs.

Boston Red Sox (+1150)

The Red Sox have Rafael Devers at third base, but if he moves to first base or designated hitter, then Bregman becomes an obvious candidate to replace him in their lineup. The Red Sox have deep pockets and make sense as a landing spot for Bregman.

New York Mets (+1300)

The Mets have money to burn and can never be counted out of signing any star free agent, including Bregman, who could replace fellow free agent Pete Alonso’s power in the Mets lineup if “Polar Bear” walks this offseason.

Washington Nationals (+1400)

The Nationals won the World Series in 2019 but have been rebuilding since then. If they want to jump back into the realm of contenders, signing a star like Bregman would be a big first step toward getting back into the playoffs.

The Field (+1500)

There can always be a mystery team to emerge in free agency, so it’s possible a team that wasn’t mentioned on this list could jump in and make a bid for Bregman.
