MLB Odds For Top Remaining Free Agents: Snell, Bellinger, Chapman & More

Spring Training for the 2024 MLB season begins the weekend of Feb. 24-25. And yet, there are a few key players still in free agency that could drastically alter the makeup of a roster or rotation.
The lineup includes a reigning Cy Young Award winner, a former Most Valuable Player, and Most Improved Player, a four-time Gold Glove third baseman, and a pitcher who just helped the Texas Rangers win their first-ever World Series.
Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has scoured the MLB landscape and updated his MLB odds as to which teams the top remaining free agents will play for this summer.
Blake Snell's Next Team Odds
Team | Odds | Implied Probability |
New York Yankees | +150 | 40.0% |
Seattle Mariners | +400 | 20.0% |
Los Angeles Angels | +550 | 15.4% |
San Francisco Giants | +600 | 14.3% |
Boston Red Sox | +1000 | 9.1% |
St. Louis Cardinals | +1000 | 9.1% |
The Field | +750 | 11.8% |

Snell's second Cy Young Award-winning season should pay off in his bank account. The San Diego Padres left-hander went 14-9 with a 2.25 ERA, the lowest mark in the majors.
He allowed the most walks of any pitcher, but also the fewest hits per nine innings. It's the modern approach in MLB, and Snell did it better than anyone as he hit the open market.
And yet, Snell waits for his call as teams prep to begin their preseason.
The Yankees have made an offer to Snell – the only known offer – giving them the considerable edge. Snell’s hometown Mariners could swoop in, while contenders with funds could make a huge splash. A rumored preference to remain on the West Coast offers hope to the Mariners, Giants, and Angels.

San Francisco Giants | +650 | 13.3% |
Seattle Mariners | +1000 | 9.1% |

The Cubs’ Bellinger won the Silver Slugger Award as the top-hitting centerfielder in the National League. It was a good time for a contract year. After just one change-of-scenery season, Bellinger, 28, entered the winter as one of the most-coveted free-agent outfielders on the market.
Bellinger has a career resurgence for the Cubs in 2023. After batting just .165 in 2021 and .210 in 2022, Bellinger hit .307, with the most home runs (26), runs scored (95), and walks (40) since his MVP season of 2019. He also struck out 63 fewer times and set a career-high for steals (20). He was selected as the NL Comeback Player of the Year.
The Cubs remain favorites to bring back Bellinger, though owner Tom Ricketts said there’s been only discussions, and not negotiations.
Most other teams in need of an everyday centerfielder have moved on. Teams with a question mark on the spot don’t have the money that Bellinger wants. The exception might be the Minnesota Twins, who could swoop in and make a splash.
Matt Chapman's Next Team Odds
Team | Odds | Implied Probability |
Seattle Mariners | +350 | 22.2% |
New York Yankees | +500 | 16.7% |
Los Angeles Angels | +500 | 16.7% |
Chicago Cubs | +600 | 14.3% |
Detroit Tigers | +950 | 9.5% |
San Francisco Giants | +1000 | 9.1% |
The Field | +2500 | 28.6% |
These odds are for entertainment purposes only and do not reflect odds that may be available on legal betting apps.
The Mariners have been in discussions with Chapman, which would be a big improvement at third base in a season they hope to compete for an AL West title. If talks fade, the Yankees, Angels, and Cubs are among the teams that could get a boost from Chapman’s glove and bat, and have funds to spend.
The Tigers have the need but may not want to keep up in any financial battle. The Giants were at one point considered favorites to land Chapman, but their three-year deal with Jorge Soler eliminated the need.
Jordan Montgomery's Next Team Odds
Team | Odds | Implied Probability |
Texas Rangers | -110 | 52.4% |
Boston Red Sox | +400 | 20.0% |
San Francisco Giants | +600 | 14.3% |
New York Yankees | +800 | 11.1% |
Los Angeles Angels | +1000 | 9.1% |
The Field | +700 | 12.5% |
These odds are for entertainment purposes only and do not reflect odds that may be available on legal betting apps.
Montgomery owned a 3.11 ERA in 2022, was 4-2 with a 2.79 ERA for the Rangers down the stretch in 2022, and blanked the opposition in three of his six playoff games. Texas is considered the favorite to bring back the left-hander, but the longer he goes without a contract, the more other teams are jumping into the mix.
The Red Sox and Giants are reportedly in on Montgomery, and the Yankees (if Snell doesn’t work out) and Angels could jump in as well.
