After five seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, Brandon Ingram could be a very hot commodity on the trade market this NBA offseason.

Pelicans management has decided that Ingram and team star Zion Williamson simply don’t mesh great on the court. One of them, sources say, must go. That won’t be Zion.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has surveyed the NBA landscape and updated NBA odds as to where Ingram will play his home games in 2024-25.

Brandon Ingram's Next NBA Destination

Statistically, Ingram regressed across the board this season. His points per game plummeted from 24.7 to 20.8, while his rebounds (5.1) and assists (5.7) also dipped. The scoring and rebounding numbers were his lowest in the five years in the Big Easy.

But in each season, the Pelicans as a team improved, winning more games than the prior year. This past season, the team jumped from 42-40 to 49-33. A first-round playoff loss soured the taste, however.

Ingram has just one year left on his contract (at $36 million) and is able to sign a long-term deal after over $50 million annually. New Orleans initially balked at inking Ingram to such a deal.

“A growing belief leaguewide that Pelicans will aggressively explore the trade market for Brandon Ingram before next season,” NBA insider Marc Stein noted earlier this off-season.

New Orleans, beginning to realize it may not get the market value for Ingram in a trade, have not yet shut the door on an extension, or at least an understanding for the 2024-25 season.

While most trading teams are likely to lock in the 26-year-old Ingram longer-term before making a move, the 6-8 forward could be a one-year rental in the right situation.

The Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings were two teams reportedly interested in Ingram, but both have moved on. So, too, have the Philadelphia 76ers, who added top free agent prize Paul George.

Teams clamoring for Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen could instead veer to Ingram if a long-term deal can be secured. That includes the Minnesota Timberwolves, as a huge scoring addition to play alongside Anthony Edwards; the San Antonio Spurs, who have already brought in veteran Chris Paul; the Golden State Warriors, seeking a scoring punch with Klay Thompson off to Dallas; and the Cleveland Cavaliers, if moving Darius Garland becomes a necessity.

The Jazz could make a star-for-star trade, too.

Other teams with means and need include the Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors, as well as the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder. Ingram doesn’t own a no-trade clause, but teams may not be interested unless he first agrees to a long-term deal.
