The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same. The Golden State Warriors are your 2022 NBA champions after Steph Curry and Co. battled back to win three straight games—including a dominant 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6—to claim their fourth title in seven years.

But while they’re planning another parade in San Francisco, we’re ready to look ahead to 2023. Yes, there are still four months until the NBA’s regular season begins, and we’ve still got the NBA Draft and NBA free agency to look forward to.

But it’s never too early to take a look at next year’s NBA championship odds. Here’s where the top teams stand heading into the offseason, per Caesars Sportsbook:

NBA Title Odds 2023

Team Title Odds
Golden State Warriors +500
Brooklyn Nets +600
Boston Celtics +600
Milwaukee Bucks +750
Phoenix Suns +800
LA Clippers +800
Miami Heat +1400
Philadelphia 76ers +1400
Memphis Grizzlies +1600
Dallas Mavericks +1600
Denver Nuggets +2200
LA Lakers +2200

Golden State Warriors (+500)

Safely assuming they extend Jordan Poole, Steve Kerr’s group will bring back six of its seven leading scorers from a title team. That means they’re the favorites on NBA betting sites

Their core isn’t getting any younger (Curry will be 35; Klay Thompson will be 33; Draymond Green will be 33) but the youth movement with Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Jordan Poole and James Wiseman will keep them contenders.

Brooklyn Nets (+600)

Durant/Irving/Harden wasn’t enough to get it done. Then just Durant/Irving wasn’t enough. So now the Nets will try a Durant/Irving/Simmons combination next season.

Assuming Irving is eligible to play in every game, Durant doesn’t lose a step, and Simmons can hold his own as an elite defender and distributor, they’re the rightful favorites in the East on betting sites ahead of the new season.

Boston Celtics (+600)

The 2011 Oklahoma City Thunder will tell you to not take an early NBA Finals trip for granted. Championship windows aren’t open forever, so don’t expect Boston to rest on its 2022 success. Still, it's got its entire core coming back (assuming it hangs on to Al Horford) that ran through a gauntlet of an Eastern Conference postseason (Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Miami).

If Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown make jumps to superstardom, the Celtics could very well be back in the Finals in 2023.

Milwaukee Bucks (+750)

They didn’t repeat as champs, but the Bucks still have two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, they’ve won an average of 53 games per season since 2019, and will have a healthy Khris Middleton in next year’s postseason.

Assuming Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton are back, this championship core is intact. When Giannis is on the floor, the Bucks have a chance—the opponent doesn’t matter.

Phoenix Suns (+800)

These NBA odds on the Suns may feel low, but Deandre Ayton’s status is totally up in the air, and Father Time may have started to take down Chris Paul late in the postseason. He’ll be 37 next season.

A core of Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson has potential in the West, but Phoenix may very well have missed its window the last two seasons. A rejuvenated Paul and some sort of win-now compensation for Ayton (or a more impactful Ayton) could change our minds.

NBA Title 2023 Long Shot Bets To Consider

Cleveland Cavaliers (+8000)

Looking for a long shot on betting apps? How about the NBA’s best story from this year taking another leap next year? A number of Cavaliers made the “jump” this past season—Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland became All-Stars, Evan Mobley should have won Rookie of the Year, and Caris LeVert was a stellar mid-season pickup. And they did it all without Collin Sexton (11 games played, knee).

What if they all make similar jumps again? Garland becomes an All-Pro, Allen vies for Defensive Player of the Year and Mobley becomes a Year 2 All-Star? We’re just saying. The odds are nice here for a team that was top-4 in the East before injuries torpedoed their season.

Cavs fans in Ohio, sit tight because soon you'll be able to legally back your team. You can't jump on these odds just yet, but once Ohio sports betting launches on Jan. 1, 2023, you'll be able to bet on Cleveland. Who knows what its odds will be then?

Los Angeles Lakers (+2200)

It’s wild to think that last season’s title favorite is this far down the list (tied for 11th best odds). This is still a team with LeBron James and Anthony Davis running the show.

Perhaps new head coach Darvin Ham can breathe new life into Russell Westbrook and bring this team back to the top of the West. There’s some value here, to be sure.

NBA Title 2023 Prediction

We’re going to put our eggs in the Ben Simmons basket, which feels risky. But the upside with Durant, Irving and Simmons is simply too much to look past. What’s more, veterans have been willing to take less to play for the chance at a title (LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin and Goran Dragic to name a few).

GM Sean Marks will retool the backend of the roster, they’ll get sharpshooter Joe Harris back, and the combination of Durant and Irving will finally reach the mountaintop in Brooklyn. Take the Nets as your early Championship pick on New York betting apps or wherever you place your wagers.
