The implosion of the Milwaukee Bucks this season could very well push Giannis Antetokounmpo to demand a trade. The Bucks are a trainwreck this season. After 6 games, the Bucks are the worst team in the NBA Eastern Conference at 1-5.

It may be too soon to pull the ripcord on his version of the Bucks, but the team has been on a fast and steady decline since winning the 2021 NBA title. They’ve been bounced from the postseason in back-to-back seasons. They dealt Jrue Holiday to the Celtics. Holiday and the Celtics hoisted Banner 18 2 weeks ago. Damian Lillard has been a bust.

Antetokounmpo’s name has surfaced as being a potential generational target at the NBA trade deadline. If the Bucks opt for a total rebuild, dealing Antetokounmpo is a necessity.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has put together hypothetical NBA odds for what NBA team could deal for Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline. See the odds below.

Giannis Antetokounmpo's Next Move

With Giannis Antetokounmpo's future uncertain, fans are eagerly speculating about his next move in the league.

Miami Heat +400

Buzz: The Heat were knocked out of the playoffs last spring by the Celtics in Round 1 after reaching the NBA Finals the previous season. Jimmy Butler is starting to play like someone whose time has expired in Miami. Talk of a Heat deal for Antetokounmpo often includes a third party. And the Heat would have to give up Bam Adebayo to get the Freak. But Adebayo’s off-season extension makes him an easy piece to move given his contractual stability. Antetokounmpo has reportedly let it be known that his preferred destination is Brooklyn, New York, or Golden State.

 Los Angeles Clippers +450

Buzz: Steve Balmer built the most high-tech, fan-friendly, tech-savvy, bad-ass arena on the planet. Or at least West of the Sphere in Las Vegas. The Intuit Dome sits in Inglewood adjacent to the Kia Forum and SoFi Stadium. But Balmer and the Clips need a superstar to match their brand-new swanky digs. Antetokounmpo would help the Clippers shine in LA, especially up against the World Champion Dodgers, and LeBron James and Son playing at the Crypto.com Arena. While the Clippers have plenty of money to lock up Antetokounmpo beyond his current deal (that ends after the 2027-28 season), they lack the draft capital to get a deal done.

 New Orleans Pelicans +475

Buzz: It’s hard to envision Antetokounmpo being OK with a deal that leaves him in the Crescent City. The opportunity to play alongside Zion Williamson and immediately be part of the NBA’s most menacing frontcourt is appealing. The Pelicans will sacrifice much of their future draft capital. Never mind try to match the salaries involved.

 Oklahoma City Thunder +500

Buzz: Oklahoma City is another potential destination for Antetokounmpo that makes more basketball sense than practical sense. The Thunder are in the midst of becoming a contender again in the overloaded West. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would excel as a No. 1 with Giannis. And Giannis won’t have to bear the full load on offense. Sam Presti and the Thunder have a ton of draft capital to deal with. But OKC will be a tough sell to someone who is looking at the bright lights of New York, Miami, or LA. Why make a lateral basketball move to another medium-sized market?

Golden State Warriors +750

Buzz: Giannis Antetokounmpo and Steph Curry. Time to make the Warriors great again. Crank up the hype machine to level 12. This would be as close to having the Dream Duo of Steph and LeBron together without having Steph and LeBron together. The Warriors have a stash of picks and plenty of younger talent to make a deal. Giannis growing his game under the guidance of Stever Kerr is another draw. Antetokounmpo, like elsewhere with some of the teams on this list, would take a secondary role on offense, at least in terms of being a two-man attack next to Curry. This is the type of landing spot that happens only if Antetokounmpo pushes it, and the Bucks accede to his will.

 New York Knicks + 850

Buzz: The Knicks have been “reportedly in” on every potential NBA trade since the Bucks traded Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the Lakers. Or so it seems. The Knicks are reportedly atop Giannis’ wish list, along with Miami, Brooklyn, and Golden State. But you need two sides to make a deal work. And the Knicks emptied their trade vault when they picked Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns.

 Houston Rockets, +1000

Buzz: The Rockets have lots to offer the Bucks in a potential trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, both in terms of players and picks. Alperen Sengun, just 22, would be a nice upgrade as Antetokounmpo’s sidekick over Damian Lillard.  But the Rockets would likely have to part with either Amen Thompson or Reed Sheppard. It’s unlikely the  Greek Freak wants to take part in the rebuild after being part of a team that’s all but bottomed out.

 San Antonio Spurs +1200

Buzz: The greatest foreign-born duo in NBA history awaits in San Antonio. Victor Wembanyama could free up on offense with Giannis Antetokounmpo as the 2. And have protection, as well. Alas, what could be?
