The Milwaukee Bucks flamed out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs for the third year in a row last summer. Since the Bucks won the NBA Championship in 2021, the team has only won one playoff series.

Now with Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo weighing his future as the team sits under .500 early in the 2025-26 season, the Bucks again will gauge his trade value as the team looks to retool its roster.

If the Bucks decide to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo, the price will be high, and the Bucks could completely change the trajectory of their franchise with the pieces the team gets in a trade if GM Jon Horst decides to call around the league and see what other teams will offer him.

Bookies.com has updated our NBA odds for what his next team will be.

Giannis Antetokounmpo's Next Move

When you’ve been an NBA MVP finalist nine years in a row, you’ve earned the right to call your shot, career wise, which is exactly what Antetokounmpo is doing in the Cream City.

With Antetokounmpo off to another stellar season with 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game in 17 games played, it’s no wonder why teams are chomping at the bit to put together a trade package for the 31-year-old.

Throw in the fact that Antetokounmpo has two years left on the three-year extension he signed with the Bucks, with a player option for the 2027-28 campaign before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2028, and you have another reason for that leaguewide excitement.

With all that in mind, we’re giving NBA heavy hitters like the Knicks (+250), Rockets (+650) and the Golden State Warriors (+900) the top odds of landing Antetokounmpo in a trade, while longshots include the San Antonio Spurs at +1000 and the Los Angeles Lakers at +1400.

This year, Antetokounmpo carries a salary cap hit of $54.1 million, with that figure going up to $58.4 million next year and $62.7 million (if he exercises his player option) the following season, which could also motivate Milwaukee GM Jon Horst to move the franchise icon before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 5.

While the teams mentioned above have solid odds of landing Antetokounmpo, the Bucks are still our top team, at +120, speaking to the likely recalcitrance of Bucks front office staff to part ways with the man who brought an NBA title and multiple league MVPs to the Badger State.

What Would Giannis Add For New Teams?

A lot. While Antetokounmpo’s mileage has ramped up in recent years thanks to long postseason runs in Milwaukee, the veteran of 876 games is having his best shooting season to date, hitting 63.9% of his field goals (a new career high) and 43.5% of his threes (also a career best).

Throw in his effective field goal percentage (65.6%, also a career high), and you have a decent synopsis of why Antetokounmpo is still one of the most valuable trade chips in the league.

While any package that includes the nine-time All-Star will be steep, with NBA players and draft picks likely being a requirement, that would be more than worthwhile for most league GM’s, given Antetokounmpo’s star power.

If you’re the Knicks, any deal for Antetokounmpo would likely cost you NBA talent like Karl-Anthony Towns and multiple first-round picks but would land the franchise their first bona fide star in years.

The same rings true of the 14-5 Rockets, who landed Kevin Durant in a trade this offseason, potentially tipping their hand about the club’s willingness to part with NBA talent to bolster their championship potential.

Like New York, Houston would likely have to throw in NBA mainstays like Alperen Sengun to make a trade for Giannis fly, though Rockets GM Rafael Stone would likely jump at such a deal if possible.

For now, league general managers and fans alike are forced to sit on their hands and wait to see what Bucks front office members decide to do with the club’s shining star, as a potential Antetokounmpo trade could materialize in the coming days, weeks or months (or not at all, for that matter).
