Khris Middleton is a three-time All-Star and an NBA champion, playing the role of Robin to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Batman in the Milwaukee Bucks’ title run of 2021.

But the 6-foot-7 swingman, who is known around the league as one of the best two-way players in the game, was a shell of his usual self in 2022-23. He missed 49 games in the regular season with an overall production that fell far short of expectations.

Middleton turned down a massive $40 million to opt out of his contract and become a free agent in the quest for a longer contract. Teams who believe he still has 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists in his game – that’s his average over the previous three seasons – will make an offer.

Bookies.com veteran oddsmaker Adam Thompson has revealed his hypothetical NBA odds as to which team Middleton is on for 2023-24.

Potential Landing Spots For Khris Middleton

When healthy, Middleton is a very tough matchup for anyone. The 6-foot-7 swingman poured in 40 points in a dominating NBA Finals win over the Suns during the title run. This past season, he poured in 33 points twice vs. the Miami Heat in the opening round.

But health has been an issue. He’s missed at least 14 games in each of the past three seasons and only played in 33 this year. His 15.1 ppg was his worst since 2016-17 when he played only 29 games. His 31.1% 3-point shooting was his worst mark since his rookie season of 2012-13, his overall shooting of 43.6% a career low. Across the board, his stats were markedly down.

Finally healthy for the playoffs, Middleton averaged 24 points and 6.2 assists vs. the Heat. He can still be a standout if he can stay on the court.

The Bucks would like to keep him around. Milwaukee has an aging roster, but one that is built to win now. With Giannis, Middleton, Jrue Holiday and (free agent) Brook Lopez, Milwaukee has earned the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs in three of the last five years. Of course, that core group helped deliver the franchise’s first championship in 50 years in 2021, but the Bucks have been a disappointment since. New coach Adrian Griffin could be the cure for what has ailed the team in the postseason.

NBA insiders believe Middleton could command a deal around four years and $130 million. The $32.5M annual price is lower than what he would have made in 2023-24, but the long-term payoff is clear.

The Houston Rockets are in the conversation for most valued free agents. They have most money to spend than any other team. If expected top target James Harden doesn’t land in Houston, Middleton would be a strong backup plan.

The San Antonio Spurs have the cap space and the potential superstar to make a splash right away. With Victor Wembanyama coming to town, 74-year-old coach Gregg Popovich isn’t interested in another rebuild. Middleton offers a calming, veteran influence that Popovich’s title teams often possess.

A sign-and-trade isn’t out of the picture. Teams that can’t afford Middleton on their own but may see him as a critical piece of their own puzzle could go this route and circumvent the salary cap issue.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ top off-season priority is to upgrade on the wing. Middleton ranks right at the top of that list. The same goes for the Dallas Mavericks, who could use a top-tier scoring option that isn’t ball-dominant and can play seamlessly around another star.

The Field includes teams that are seeking an upgrade at the position, including the Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic, and others with a need that have additionally been tormented by Middleton over the years, including the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors
