Bookies.com examined the full 1,312-game, 2025-26 regular-season schedule and determined the miles traveled for each team by measuring the distance between the coordinates of each NHL arena using the haversine formula, which considers the curvature of the Earth. The data was compiled using AI platforms ChatGPT and Microsoft's Copilot.
The Edmonton Oilers travel the most miles of any NHL team this upcoming season. Their 14 road trips cover 54,425.6 miles. The team crosses 36 time zones.
The New York Islanders travel the fewest miles of any NHL team this season – 28,477.3 miles through 20 time zones.

The NHL schedule includes two games and an 18-day break in February for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The Games include NHL players for the first time since 2014.
All 32 teams will be playing on Oct. 11 and Oct. 28. The games on Oct. 28 will be spread out, starting with the Penguins at the Philadelphia Flyers at 6 p.m. ET and concluding with the Kings at the San Jose Sharks at 11 p.m. ET.
The Thanksgiving Showdown features two Original Six teams with the Rangers visiting the Bruins on Nov. 28.
NHL Moves Outdoors In Florida
The Rangers and Panthers head outdoors for the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 2 at Miami’s loanDepot Park. The Boston Bruins then play the Tampa Bay Lightning at Raymond James Stadium on Feb. 1.
The NHL has special plans to keep the ice fresh for both games in the Sunshine State. They will be played at night. The roof will be opened at loanDepot Park for the puck drop.
Meanwhile, in Tampa, the NHL plans to build the ice surface under a temporary covering and remove it in the hours leading up to the game.
The NHL Olympic break runs from Feb. 5 to Feb. 25.
