Arsenal are the overwhelming favourites to sign Kieran Tierney from Celtic after the Gunners reportedly lodged an £18m bid for the defender over the weekend.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is desperate to land defensive recruits in the transfer window after a middling first season at the Emirates last term.

The Gunners failed again to qualify for the Champions League and lost the Europa League final to Chelsea in May — yet still hope to attract big-name players this summer.

Arsenal Want New Defenders

Defensive issues had caused headaches at Arsenal way before Emery’s arrival last summer, and it appears as though a move for the left-back is finally set to go through.

The Daily Express report that Arsenal have launched an offer for Tierney and that Celtic are already lining up a replacement.

The deal is by no means complete and Celtic have allegedly already rejected a £15m bid as they play hardball over Tierney.

Yet bookmakers Paddy Power have slashed the odds on the Scotland international moving to north London, from 5/1 (+500) at the start of June to just 1/7 (-700) now.

Celtic Have Replacement Plan

It seems as though Celtic are willing to let Tierney go, with the same report claiming Neil Lennon’s side have joined Aberdeen and Rangers in the pursuit of Derby’s Max Lowe.

Lowe, 22, was on loan at Aberdeen last season and impressed in the Scottish Premiership. The Dons want him back at Pittodrie but Steven Gerrard at Rangers also has an eye on the youngster.

The Daily Record suggest Celtic would be happy for Lowe to join them on loan or on a permanent basis and the three-way battle among Scotland’s biggest clubs could run long into the summer.

Leicester Odds Drift

As for Tierney, any hope of him securing a move to Leicester and old manager Brendan Rodgers appear to have faded.

The Foxes were 7/2 (+350) with Betfair to sign the 22-year-old when the season ended last month. But that price has now drifted to 10/1 (+1000), while Tottenham are way out at 14/1 (+1400).
