Which MLB Club Will Sign Bassitt?

Atlanta Braves (+300)

The Atlanta Braves dealt with tons of injuries to their starting rotation last season, as reigning Cy Young winner Chris Sale was banged up for much of the season, as were several of the team’s other starting pitchers. That’s why they could surely use a veteran innings eater in their rotation who is reliable and durable, and Bassitt seems like he would be the perfect fit for the Braves.

Toronto Blue Jays (+400)

Bassitt pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays from 2023 to 2025, throwing 541.1 innings with a 3.89 ERA during that time. Not only was he a reliable starter who started 95 games for the Jays, but he also helped the team out by coming out of the bullpen in the World Series last year, proving his worth. The Jays signed multiple pitchers during the offseason to replace the aging Bassitt and Max Scherzer, and it seemed like the team had moved on. But with Bassitt still lingering on the free-agent market on the eve of spring training, the Jays could see if a reunion is possible.

New York Mets (+550)

The New York Mets were previously Bassitt’s home in 2022, and he had a solid season for the Mets that year, throwing 181.2 innings with a 3.42 ERA. The Mets traded for Freddy Peralta during the offseason, but failed to sign any of the big-name starters on the market. Instead, they could decide to turn to Bassitt if they feel like they need additional depth in their rotation.

Baltimore Orioles (+650)

The Baltimore Orioles have been in the market for rotation help the entire offseason. After failing to land Framber Valdez, who went to the Detroit Tigers, the O’s could turn to Bassitt as a veteran stopgap to pair with the younger pitchers the team currently has in its starting rotation.

San Diego Padres (+900)

The San Diego Padres lost Dylan Cease in free agency to the Toronto Blue Jays and could use a veteran starter like Bassitt to help plug that spot in their rotation. It would be somewhat ironic if the Padres essentially swapped Cease for Bassitt if they were able to sign him themselves.

The Field (+515)

Bassitt is about as solid as it comes, as he provides a stabilizing presence in the locker room and soaks up innings on the field. That makes him a valuable player for any team in the league, and gives The Field a good chance to pick him up with spring training quickly approaching.
